" These Hands "

These hands have played, they have thrown balls galore.
These hands have changed diapers, and so much more.

These hands have cooked, and held many a book.
These hands have crocheted, with many a hook.

These hands have washed many a dish.
These hands have caught quite a few fish.

These hands have picked up so many things.
These hands have worn diamond rings.

These hands have sewed so many a dress.
These hands have been in so much distress.

These hands have written quite a few lines.
These hands have touched so many times.

These hands have planted so many a seed.
These hands have done so many a deed.

These hands have typed so many a word.
These hands have often folded for the Lord.

These hands have ached and pained.
These hands have given me so much gain.

These hands have touched and loved so many.
These hands are full of love aplenty.

These hands are stiffening now I know.
Yet somehow I know they will find more love to grow.

These hands they are mine and they have served me well.
These hands God gave me , I will live and dwell.

Oh Di, you made my eyes tear up as I know how hard you work with your hands when they are swollen and painful, and I also know how much love you show with your hands in so many ways. Love you....:-) hugs

I also meant to say I love this poem you wrote about your hands. xo

Your poem is nice Di, I recognized you in every line. I hope your hands aren't giving you more concern than usual... we really do a lot with them, don't we?!!

I really liked this! Did you write this? I didn't know you were such a poet. It's amazing to think about what our hands do.

Great job on your poem! Yes, we have hands--and so very much to be thankful for. I am thankful for the hands that God gave to me as well and also the hands of so many others that have reached out to help me. I am sure that you would say the same. Blessings today.

After so much activity, no WONDER they ache sometimes! Massage them lovingly, friend. They are deserving.

What a beautiful poetic tribute to God's delicate creation - hands!

Lovely!! We sure do depend on our hands a lot. Our eyes too, but we are much more forgetful of how precious are hands are. I always like looking at sweet little baby hands (and feet) and thinking of how much they are going to do :) I had that opportunity today...a sweet little preemie...very tiny and adorable. Her little fingers looked like little matchsticks :)
Much love to you and hugs too!!

My foster mom had the ugliest hands I ever saw but i loved those hands. She had rheumatoid arthritis but she never let that stop her from wiping tears, changing diapers, holding babies and comforting those who needed it. Yes, she did God's work with those hands, just as you do. Keep doing God's work with those beautiful hands.

This was so beautiful, Di, I loved every word. And it really made me appreciate so many things that I take for granted.
And I don't think I've ever told you how much I admire your spirit and your strength, I truly do. And I think it shines through not only in this poem and every word you write, but in how you live your life too.
Love you lots, E
