I Wanted to Share

Hi. I know it's been at least a month since I've done this. Hope I remember how. Without getting into a whole lot of detail, my family has been going through some changes lately. So I've been focusing most of my energies at them.

But I saw something outside my kitchen window yesterday evening that made me grab my camera and run outside. That really hurt I tell you. I negleted to put shoes on and had to run over gravel to get this photo!!
I think it was worth it however....

Isn't it beautiful? My question to you is, does anyone know what this is? A Butterfly or a Moth? And what kind? I tried Googling this and came up with nothing. So if there are any nature experts out there, please let me know.

That's all I wanted to share with you. Oh and I think I may be back for awhile if all goes well.

Welcome back, but I don't know about the butterfly/moth.

All I know is that it's pretty! I would have said "butterfly" - but what do I know? I like those flowers, too (but do you think I can remember THEIR names either?!?!)

Hi Diana!
So nice to visit you!
I think your butterfly is a zebra swallowtail.
You can compare the photos here

Sooo very pretty! I hope all is well ~ everyone healthy & happy ... God bless you, Diana*
Glad to "see you" again!

Hi Rebecca,
The flowers are Cone Flowers, that much I do know!! Love Di ♥

I do believe that you are correct Maria. Isn't it just beautiful? Now I will have to look and see if there are any Paw Paw trees nearby!!
Love Di ♥

Good to hear from you. I've been waiting for you to pop up in my blog roll.

I have no idea about the butterfly but that sure is a gorgeous pic. I always seem to miss a good shot like that.

Lovely photo, Di...my purple coneflowers aren't blooming just yet, but I do have lots of Paw Paw trees, well they look more like bushes than trees though and the fruit disappears before maturing!

I can not run on gravel!!!

Wahoo..your back. I think it is a swallow tail butterfly. Now if it was on a light bulb and it was towards evening I would say it is a moth.

HI DI - lovely 'come-back' :-) the picture is beautiful despite your soar feet! And I have no idea if it is a butterfly or a moth - either way it is so beautiful - nature's best. SO good to see you my friend.
Love Gail

So glad you are back! So sad you've been through much unpleasant stuff.

The butterfly is a Zebra Swallowtail. I'm not familiar with it; it's cousin the Tiger Swallowtail is common in these part — it has much more yellow.

Yay! She's back. Welcome my friend.
Now there is something I can never get right, butterflies seem to be very camera shy or possibly too busy to stay still, who knows. Great picture and great to hear from you again. Lots and lots of love, Geoff.

Hi Di,
Though I don't know what it is, it's beautiful, especially on against the pink of the flower.

I hope everything will work out for you and your family, whatever the issues may be. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs to you
Terrie

wow, so glad you took the photo!
I think it is a butterfly, the contrast of colors and patterns , should be in a magazine.

Hey, girlfriend! Glad to see you're back! Hope all is well.
That photo is gorgeous! I did a little googling, too, and came up with maybe either a Zebra longwing or a zebra swallowtail. Hard to be sure. I don't think a moth would light on a flower, though.
Best to you and your family, Diana~ Love,
Margaret xo

Hi Di, Glad to see you posted. Hope you'll soon be a regular again. Is that a Zebra Swallowtail? I love the pink Echinacea plant, too. Hope you're surviving in the heat and humidity! It's cool in the mountains and the snow has finally melted from my yard. Happy 4th!

I've tried commenting before but I keep getting a message saying that 'Service in unavailable'! Ugh!

LOVE your zebra looking butterfly! Great photo! Thanks for sharing it.

I miss everyone and I miss blogging and visiting!

Ray and I are so busy here on the weekends though, we dismantled my closet (a tiny bedroom that Ray made into a closet/storage room for me), I did a lot of purging, and put lots of things in the attic, Ray took down all the shelves and hanging poles, we painted the room, and then Ray built a platform bed for Katie. (I should have taken before and after pictures.) Anyway, this weekend we have a party to go to on Saturday and another on Sunday, so we won't be doing any work here, but after that we'll get started on a nursery for Eoghan (pronounced Owen, that's the name Katie decided on for her baby boy), he'll be here in about ten weeks and we still have lots to do!

During the week I'm busy occupying Jayden and this week the poor little guy has a virus, so I'm busy cleaning up after him. Also, my cousin is here from down south and I'm busy trying to help her with a situation she's got going on.
And we have a little 'drama' situation going on here in the family too. Never a dull moment.

But I think of you so often, Di, and I keep you and your family in my prayers.
Love to you, E

Hi Di,
Good hearing from you. Miss everyone and hearing about what is going on in their lives. I am going through a bit of a trial, nothing new for me it seems.

"This too shall pass".

Lots of drama going on in my family too, however, I have taken a step back and away from it. Just listening and praying.

Love ya
TT

I loved your photo. I love butterflies!!!
