" As Time Goes By "

Good evening everyone !
Katie and I just returned home from another driving adventure. Only there isn't too much to report this evening as she did a fine job this time out. You may or may not know that I had commented on my facebook page that she was having troubles understanding what the word STOP means.

Well I am happy to report that she did much better this time and I only had to correct her three times on her stopping too fast. Not bad, not bad. We had to drive to church first so that I could check on something there. She does very good on that road now. It is a very curvy country road with lots of deer.

We than headed back to town where I told her to go to the mall. We were going to be having dinner at a Chinese restaurant there. She did well getting there, through the stop lights, left turn lanes and right turn lanes. Then we pulled into the mall. Fortunately it wasn't very crowded and I noticed the perfect parking spot BETWEEN two cars. Plenty of room.

When I told her that that's where she should park she told me that she didn't feel comfortable doing that. O.K. I understand this. So we found several empty spots right across from there and she put the car in perfectly! We had a nice dinner and then it was right back to driving. This time she wanted to choose which way to go and off we went. Again she did very well and truly required very little instruction. It wasn't a very long drive, maybe an hour tops. But I wanted to get home before dark so we started to head home. Oh I forgot, I had also for the first time, let her back out of the garage. It is very old and narrow. But she did what I instructed her to do and didn't scrape the mirrors!
So since she did that, I also let her pull in the garage which has to be done fairly slowly. There is only about a two inch clearance on each side of the mirrors. Again she did very well!

It was a successful drive.
So here is my question. How do we go from this.....

To this......

In such a small amount of time ?

A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh,
The fundamental things apply,
As time goes by.

Oh... I do understand... very much so...
As I write, my home is quiet...
The kids are all grown and gone ...
Seventeen+ inches of snow fell today...
But, I still called them, Diana, to see if they traveled safely to work.

They are always a part of us ♥ and yes, time does go by.
Smiles to you ~ Maria

Oh Maria as much as Katie gets on my last nerve sometimes (teenagers!) I am not looking forward to the day that she moves out. It is just going by so fast!
I can't believe that you got 17 inches of snow! Just keep thinking April! That's what I'm doing.

Maria said it beautifully. They are our babies, regardless of the age. My baby is 40 in a few days, and she is definitely my baby!

Do you remember the words to "Sunrise, Sunset"?
Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older,
When did they?

So true.

Much to Quickly!

Katie seems to be very good at learning to drive, especially with backing out of the garage and leaving you with mirrors.
I see you scanned a very cute photo of her. Glad you have a scanner Di!
I just realized we both have photos of our Katies learning to drive on our current posts. :)

Hi Lynilu,
I had forgotten about the words to "Sunrise, Sunset", how fitting they are right now. You do know that when Katie leaves in a few short years, You all are going to have to see me through the EMPTY NEST syndrome! I missed my other two so much when they left but I always had Katie here with me. Love Di

Oh Wanda, I had my camera in my purse this time! But I was so involved with watching what she was doing that I forgot to take her picture! Jackie would say, Shame on me! The last photo was from when Jake took her.
And yes, the scanner is a blast! You are going to be sooo bored!!!!

Exactly! When you figure that out let me know. I just don't feel like the mother of a 25 year old. I still think I am only 25!

Your girl is doing well! Very nice! And you're a good Mom to take her out!

I know exactly how you feel, Di, the years have just sped by, and I find myself so wistful at times. As much as I've loved every phase of my life, there is still a sadness when a chapter on our life closes.

'Loved your post title!
Love you!, E

Hi Jules,
I don't feel 25 and really I wouldn't want to. But I am enjoying each stage of my life however fast it goes by!

Oh, Katie - you are growing up! Either way, I think you'll always be Mom and Dad's little girl. Good for Katie in her driving progress!

yes, how does it happen. There are times when I am very excited about the kids getting older and some days it make me sad.

I ask myself that everytime I look in the Mirror. Hmmm, the 50 years have come so fast. All downhill now.

Glad that Katie is doing well with her driving.

It might help to post a picture of yourself THEN and yourself NOW...

I keep looking at my wedding picture (which I hadn't looked at in year but got out to experiment with our scanner) and when I look, the years that have past seem VERY real somehow...
