" Just a Bit of Irony ?"

Today was the day of all day's for me. Very busy and stress filled.
I shall break it down and skip all of the small details .

Woke up had two cups of coffee.

No time for shower or food.

Dropped off husband at the hospital.

Drove to Wal-mart to stock up on pet food and coffee, which is vital to my days as of late.

Dropped off 78 pounds of dog food , cat food and litter.

Ate a small bowl of potato soup.

Went to another store to buy meat and pay utility bill.

Came home , walked dogs, woke up Kate, went to another store for paper towels because the dogs are not feeling well.

Oh did I forget to mention that it is only 9:00 a.m.?

Went to the drug store for a refill on xanax, as I am needing it now.

Went to the hospital to pick up Jake and take him home.

Grabbed a sandwich and drove to the house that I clean.

Cleaned for two and one half hours.

Stopped at the bank , cashed check.

Came home, took a bath, washed hair. Did dishes, walked dogs.

Oh did I mention that I only had an hour and a half to do this?

Took Katie to her new doctor for her new patient establish visit.

Fell asleep in the waiting room. This has never happened to me.

Stopped at drug store on the way home for medicine for Katie's allergies.

Came home, ate dinner.

Fed dogs, walked dogs and did more dishes.

Decided to buy paper plates.

Was supposed to go to my son's for a Halloween party but Katie had a bad headache and I was too tired so we canceled.

Did I mention that it poured rain all day?

Jake went to the hospital for I.V. Medicine again.

Finally, finally I went upstairs to my get away to do some things that I had wanted to do.

Alone time at last.

Katie was downstairs watching a show that she had been anticipating.

I moved several pieces of furniture upstairs including a bed.

I am done for the night.I am icing my knee now. it hurts.

I am going to sit down and have a beer.

I deserve it today.

Katie comes upstairs. Her head hurts bad. She is hot. I take her temperature. One hundred degrees.

I go downstairs to get her some Ibuprofen, a cold towel for her head and a small bowl of soup.

She has chills now and the fever is rising.

She wants hugs. From me and her dad who is home now.

This is not usual for her. Hugs.

We tuck her in. This is not usual for her.

I have put two quilts and one feather bed over her.

She asked me to make homemade noodles and chicken soup tomorrow.

So I will.

The doctor visit went really well.

I guess it was just a few hours to soon.

Just when I thought that things were calming down a bit.

Just a bit of irony.

Oh what a day it was for you! Gosh where do you get all that energy to do all that stuff??! Lols But I can relate to that,oh yes! I was a working wife and mother before retirement. And really things went crazy more often than not! Believe me, office-home is not a good idea Lols! :-) I enjoyed my cruise down your blog. Thanks for sharing and for this pleasurable reading.

Have a peaceful weekend.
God bless you and your family.

What a day Diana, with rain on top of it! I hope Katie is better this morning, hope it isn't her worst fear, I know she was anxious about the H1N1 virus!

"POTATO SOUP" Diana is one funny breakfast!!!but it goes with your funny disposition!

No wonder you have knee pain, running around to doctors and hospitals, in and out of the car several times, house cleaning, loading and unloading 78 lbs. of dog food, walking the dogs, and then moving furniture. I hope you got that beer...now you need to go out and get paper plates!

Hope you had a restful night!
Luv,
Wanda

Hi Ellen,
I DON'T have all of that energy! That's why I was going crazy!! But it's all just part of being a mom! Thank you for visiting me. My day today shouldn't be as hectic, hopefully I'll be able to visit you too. Love Di

Hi Bill,
Katie is feeling pretty bad this morning, I'm going to go take her temp again when I finish this. I hope you are feeling better?

Hi Wanda,
Katie is worried about having strep throat again. We will just see how the day progresses. Potato soup or a sandwich is a common breakfast for me. I don't like to eat in the morning but have so many pills to take that I have to. And I don't like breakfast food!

Hi Gail,
I was able to sleep in today which is a good thing as I will be busy again. Not as bad as yesterday though! Hopefully I will be back later, I am off to make soup!

First, I'm mad that I keep missing your posts! I come here and while the blog loads (banner and side bar), the posts don't! Ugh!
Anyway, you must have been in 'robot mode' to get all this done!
Does the xanax help? My sister-in-law (Susie) swears by it and every time any one of us has a stressful situation going on she is trying to hand us a pill!
My brother-in-law Donald was on it for awhile after he almost lost his hand in that saw accident and he said it helped him a lot (he always takes Susie up on her offer, I have not yet).
I hope it is helping you cope through this very stressful time.

And poor Katie! And poor you! On top of taking care of Jake and trying to fit a moment in for yourself you now Katie to care for and worry about!
I hope she gets well soon, and I hope you stay healthy and strong of spirit.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. And I so appreciate that you post throughout it all. Being the brat that I am of course I selfishly look to be updated daily! Please take care of yourself, Di.
I love you lots and wish that there was something I could do for you.
Love and Prayers,
Eileen

Oh Di,
"When it rains it pours." (As my Mother always said.)

Be mindful that Katie may have the flu - my twin Grands just had a bad case. Because of Katie's allergies, you may have to call her DR again if her fever rises. Also, You and Jake must wash hands often.

I'm sure you know all this - why am I giving you advise? Just reading of your day puts me in stress mode so I'm handing out unnecessary advise.. Please - I know this is impossible for you - rest between taking care of your two patients. Do NOT move furniture!

I'd definitely make you a hot toddy if you were here - sun is shining on the snow this AM.

Diana..you have been Super Mom the past weeks...I don't know how you do it except the strength that comes from being a wonderful Mom and wife just goes into overdrive.
You need some rest for you...some time for you; is there anyone nearby that can help you? I am so sorry for all that has happened. I hope that Katie feels better soon. Getting the hugs and the soup helps...and I do hope that her temperature breaks and she is back up and about very soon. I hope that Jake's antibiotics continue to make him feel better. I wish you for a moment...an hour....several hours if need be of peace...relaxation. I love you, Diana.

Whew, I have heard of cook, chief and bottle washer but you even put them to shame....I don't know how you do it my friend but you do it so very well.....now quit moving furniture and lifting heavy bags or you will need more cortisone shots and soon....luv ya, big hugs to Katie and Jake. I do hope Katie feels better soon......:-) Hugs

Diana said...

Hi Eileen,
Well my dear if you were here I would have you help me with the house. That would be very helpful!

And yes the xanax does help my stress level. I am a type A personality and after my strokes, my doctor wanted me to keep more calm. I don't take them much but yesterday I was almost hyperventilating in my car so I thought it would be a good idea to take one.

I wouldn't have even thought about it if it weren't for Jake who said I really needed to take one! And it helped. A lot. Love You, Di

Hi AC,
Believe me I am trying! I just have to remind myself to breathe and eat!

Hi Barb,
I'm about 100% that it's not the flu. Her fever is gone and she has a sore throat. I am watching for signs of strep again but so far I don't see any. She is pretty careful with washing as she is very worried about getting the flu and missing school!
The soup is cooked and I finally was able to sit! Stay warm and dry and thanks for the advice!

Hi Jackie,
It's all a part of my conspiracy. You see I work really hard taking care of everyone so that they get better. Jake goes back to work, Kate goes back to school and then I can have some fun quilting, crocheting, whatevering! It's my master plan, and you are the only one that I've told.

Hi Bernie,
My problem is that I have always believed in Don't put of till tomorrow what you can do today. And sometimes I end up paying the price. I am working on getting over it!
Jake is better. Not completely but better. Katie's throat is really sore.
Oh and I did more sliding than lifting!

When things settle down, maybe you could do a guest post on my health blog about how to "unload 78 pounds".

(Oh, I just re-read and see that was 78 pounds of dog food). Never mind.

Did you really HAVE to move the furniture upstairs? Slow down, lady.

Just reading of your crazy day makes me need a "virtual" xanax!

Sniffles and Smiles said...

Oh, my...what a day!!!! I think you still need to remain at the top of my prayer list!!!! Hope Katie feels very much better soon!!!! And that you get some much needed rest...and soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you so much, Di! Glad your husband is home...I read your last post...and was delighted to hear! Hope your Sunday is truly a day of rest for you! Love you! Janine XO

Diana said...

Hi Rebecca,
No I didn't have to do the furniture. But I wanted to and I have a hard time sitting still. That is why my doctor wants me to take the xanax. But then they make me sleepy and I don't want to be sleepy. So I just work through the pain until I can't work anymore and then I whine and moan about how sore and tired I am!!!
It's just a vicious circle Rebecca! I know that you don't like hard rock music but one of my favorite bands, AC/DC has a song that my husband says should be my theme song. It is called " Can't stand Still". That's me!!
Love Di

Diana said...

Hi Janine,
I am hoping that Sunday will be a little more restful too! I think Katie might be working on Strep throat again. We are keeping a very close eye on her.
Jake is happy to be home but still isn't feeling real well yet.
But we are all together and that's what matters most.
Love You, Di

Well you can't say your life is dull.

Hi, Di, just stopping by to tell you that I'm thinking of you.
'Hope things are getting better with everyone there!

I'm loving your Natalie Wood picture on your sidebar (she's one of my favorites!), and I'm loving Dr. John's comment! So true! And short and right to the point!

Feel good!
REST! I know that's near impossible for you but you really do sound like you are burning the candle at both ends!

Love to you,
Eileen

Diane, I truly hope you are able to get a little rest and that Katie gets well soon... sounds like it could be strep or the flu...
Maybe she's just got a 24 hr. thing.

Will be thinking of you and checking hoping things are better.
Hope you have a slow day soon!

Things are anything but dull!

Hi Eileen,
Things are alright. I think Katie just has a bug but am still watching her for strep. So far so good!

O.K. My favorite Natalie wood movies are : This property Condemned,
Inside Daisy Clover,
Oh and the one with Steve McQueen where she gets pregnant, oh I can't remember the name of it. It will come back to me.
Oh and Splender in the Grass with Warren Beatty, I love that one two!
Yes I am a huge Natalie Wood fan. I always wanted to look like her when I was a young girl!
Which movie is your favorite?
And don't worry Eileen, I am relaxing now and tomorrow should be a much slower day as long as Katie doesn't get worse.
Love Di

Diana said...

Hi Maria,
I'm pretty sure it's not the flu. She doesn't have the symptoms. And while her throat hurts she doesn't seem as sick as she was last night.
I am watching and praying that it's not strep again.
Tomorrow should be much slower as long as she continues to feel better. Then Dr. Mom can maybe kick back and quilt for awhile!

oh brother, it never stops does it? Get one home then the other gets sick. Thank goodness men are not mothers or we would be eating pizza every day of the week!
