"I'm Only Human"!

I've got to tell you, there are times when I feel so silly. I'm sure you have most likely felt this way yourself. Let me explain.

You know that you have read something in your life that has really given you comfort. You may have read it several times.
And then "Poof" ! It's gone. Oh it's still back there somewhere in that mental filing cabinet of ours, only now it's covered in cobwebs.

A few years ago I found myself once again overwhelmed with worry. My husband went in the other room and came out with our Bible. He had it opened to a page and sort of shoved it towards me saying "Read this.".

He had never done this to me before. Not with the Bible. Usually it would have been something he was reading in the bathroom that he thought I might find interesting or funny.

Needless to say I was pretty surprised. Not by the fact that he read the Bible, this much I knew. But by the fact that he was wanting me read something from the Bible that he had looked up just for me to read.

I read that piece of  scripture that day. After all I didn't really have much of a choice as it was being shoved at me! I have to admit that since that day it has been my favorite verse. I have read it and reread it many times since then. Those words had truly helped me find peace over the past few years.

So why had this suddenly escaped my mind? At a time in my life when I am so desperately seeking inner peace for my own healths sake. The only conclusion that I could come up with?
I'm only human. So tonight I whipped out my trusty Bible and reread the verse. I would love to commit this to memory. But again, I'm only human. And my memory stinks.

I have decided that I am going to read this everyday. If I still don't manage to memorize it, perhaps it will fill my spirit and help in my journey to find my inner peace and ultimately better health.

Matthew 6:25-35 (New International Version)

Do Not Worry
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]?  28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Love Di ♥

I am soon going to start a series about Cedarhurst Center for the Arts. It is a beautiful serene place near my home. I hope that you will stop by to see all of the interesting photos.

I am like you and have trouble saying scripture from memory but my spirit remembers the meaning when I need it again. That was sweet of your husband to give you a scripture to help you...better than flowers. I look forward to your posts about the center for the arts. It sounds right up my ally. If all goes well my Frank and I will be down your way this coming weekend to spoil our grands. :)

This is one of my favorite Bible passages. We often worry too much about silly things and things over which we have little control. It will all work out and all the better if left in God's hands.

Hi my dear Diana;

Only now i could go online, coz of a typhoon that made us powerless and therefore no net!

I could so well relate to this post of yours...If you find this verses interesting, we can live by it! And yes another thing is, it is all about our peace of mind which we can derive from it and yes, should the Bible be not enough, I want to share you a book which gave me a new outlook in life.

I do not say that there are better books than the Bible, coz the Bible is the best but I can also share some good books that can help, trust me...

It is "The Secrets" by Rhonda Byrne
Try it Di and tell me how ur taking it!

Have a nice day! LOve yah! Hugs! ;-)

Good morning Di, Hope today is an extra special one for you. We all have times when things are just not the way we would like and it's so easy to become overwhelmed with worry.

Here's a quote I like and it's easier to memorize! :)

Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy. ~Leo Buscaglia

To me, those verses are a call to more than just not worrying, but to put spiritual things ahead of material things.

Hi Di,
That is a lot of scripture to memorize, and it is a really great passage. I turn to it often too. It is so easy to get caught up in worry, and this is so comforting.

I have been worrying a lot lately too, about finances, as my work always slows down this time of year. I wish I had prepared better for it. However I do know that "God Provides"!!!

Jake is a wise man : ) So, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" !!!

Sounds like you're taking some wonderful steps to reduce the stress in your life. I am following in your footsteps.

I love it that Jake found the verses for you. It is such a comfort to know that God will take care of us.

Worry is so unproductive - why do we all do it? If we could only live in the moment and not project into the future, we (I) would be better for it! Hope you are feeling relaxed. Di.

You know, I have written this nice quote on a whiteboard and placed it in the living room, visibly. It says..

" I'm too blessed to be stressed. And too anointed to be disappointed "

Beautiful, isn't it? But I can't remember now who wrote it. See? Memory gap! Lols! :-)

Those lines keep me thinking of God when life gets tough and tougher. I know that His great love and mercy will always see me through.

My first in your wonderful blog. Thanks for sharing. God bless!
