" Come on In ! "

I am so glad that you made it here through all of this nasty weather!
It seems half of the country is having some type of horrible weather.
I just pray that everyone stays safe and warm. Some have no power and I feel so bad for them. Hopefully the power will be restored soon.

I am grateful that my husband has been in the south this week!!

Come in out of the cold. It is 9 degrees here with the wind chill factored in and wind she is a blowin' !
This is what it looked like early this morning from my porch. Not so bad but there is a layer of ice under that bit of snow. I am so grateful that we didn't get as much bad weather as they first predicted for us but it sure is cold.

Last night was a bit unnerving as I kept hearing chunks of ice falling from my neighbors tree, hitting these two little windows next to my recliner. It was an eerie sound !

Katie does have a snow day today. So I made us a nice breakfast since we had the time. Bacon and cheddar omelet. Not the healthiest but we rarely have a breakfast like this.

I don't really have any plans for the day. I went to church on Monday to do my secretary work as I had heard of the possible bad weather. I had gotten the most important things done there and don't have to return until later in the week.

I do have to go clean house tomorrow but I'm sure that the roads will be fine. They seem fine now. I think I'm just going to relax and crochet today.

Speaking of crocheting. I have many, many crochet books and magazines. Out of this entire collection, which consists of probably hundreds, I have one particular book that I consider my "Crochet Bible". It is filled with just about every known stitch that there is. I have referred to this book many, many times over twenty years to find new and unusual stitches.
Well about two years ago I noticed that this book was missing. I had searched my house numerous times to no avail. I was heartbroken. I remembered having a huge stack of old magazines that I had thrown away over a year ago and had wondered if the book was in that stack. I thought that I had gone through the stack but may have been hasty in doing so. I had finally given up hope on ever finding this book again until I had a conversation with my daughter Ginny when she was here for Thanksgiving last year.

In conversation I had mentioned this book to her. At that time she reminded me that I had given her some crochet books the year previous as she had always shown some interest in learning more. I had taught her the basics when she was younger.

She asked me to describe the book to her and promptly called her boyfriend in Raleigh. She told him where to go look and Lo and Behold, he found it !

Well I can't tell you the relief and joy I felt from this discovery. I had long since given up on ever finding it again. After Ginny went back to Raleigh, she promptly mailed it back to me.

Lost for two years and then found !

So now I am facing another loss. This really irritates me to no end as I am a fairly organized person. I have lost my favorite bracelet. It is by no means an expensive one but I love it more than any bracelet I have. My husband gave it to me for Valentines Day last year.

I have been searching and searching and still no sign. I've looked through all of my purses and jewelery boxes. Still no luck. This just makes me sick. I haven't given up. It's rare that I loose something so I will keep searching. I realized last night that my little apartment upstairs is in desperate need of attention so maybe I will find it hiding up there somewhere. Maybe one of the cats knocked it off of the side of the dresser. I think that I would have noticed if it had fallen off my wrist as it's rather big and dangly !

I suppose that it would be alright to pray to God for a lost item. I don't know if that seems to trivial.

I finished the book I had been reading by author Terry Kay.

I won't give away the ending, I will just say that it was a light and enjoyable read with an ending, that to me was wonderful and unexpected. As I stated in a previous post, I stepped out of my box with this story. It wasn't a story that sounded appealing to me but I wanted to challenge my mind a bit and was very pleasantly surprised.

Terry Kay has written several books and you can be sure I will read more of them.

Right now I am a little behind everyone else and just started reading...
I'm not too far into it yet as I only read a few chapters each night before bedtime. When my eyes start to blur, I put it down and go to sleep.

So far I am enjoying it very much. Thank you to my Pastor's wife Karen, for sharing it !

Oh and I know that everyone in America is holding their breath on this one....

According to the Washington Post, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today, Groundhogs Day, so.....

NO MORE WINTER !!!
However The Washington Post does go on to say that Phil is only right 39 % of the time !

Now I don't know about you, but my guess is that this year he could be off !

So this ends our little visit. I am so glad that you stopped by and I hope that you stay toasty warm and dry today !

It's a good day to just stay indoors and work on home projects, but I am out of the mood. Too much winter blah getting to me. Cold and very windy here too. We didn't get as much snow as predicted, but enough to make it difficult to drive. Hope you have a good day.

Wow! That "crochet bible" got around, didn't it?! And re. the bracelet, I've lost a couple of things lately, too! You may have noticed. When I gave up looking, I posted on facebook asking for prayer - and BOTH times, I found the item (one time where I could have sworn I'd already looked)!

My mother has a Ground Hog Day birthday, so I called her a bit ago. They celebrated on Monday since they'd heard about the blizzard.

We had help getting the driveway shoveled out and will peck along at the sidewalk. (They piled snow so high that they couldn't get the Gator past the piles to do the sidewalk - or at least that's their story...and they're sticking to it!)

Stay warm and safe. I've read Eat,Pray,Love and liked it. Also saw the movie which I liked. Enjoy!

A little snow with ice underneath is very hazardous. Meanwhile, we are having a bit of the storm that has affected everyone else. But, this year, we seem to be missing the worst of the weather. It's been plenty cold though.

Glad you found your crochet bible, Di, although after seeing those lovely hearts you gifted Rebecca, you must know everything in it already. I liked the book you're reading better than the movie!

It's snowing here lightly at the moment, looks about like your place, Di. Tomorrow I will be attending the funeral of my middle sister's husband, who passed away Saturday evening after a long illness with cancer. The sun just came out, maybe tomorrow's weather won't be severe.

Isn't is great finding those "lost" items? Remember my story about finding a pair of earrings in a piece of luggage as I prepared for the trip to HI? Missing for 10 years!

I'm grouchy about the weather here, but I'd rather have my ton of snow than your ice. Just saying!

Enjoy your day of crocheting!

I totally believe that God cares about all our trivial stuff as much as He does the big stuff.

We too are diggin' out here on the Ponderosa. I couldn't get the car out if I had to. Two interstates have been closed here in Missouri. Dang it's cold...-10 tonight...it'll drop more than that here in our holler.

God bless ya and have a warm cozy kinda day sweetie!!!

It can be so frustrating not to be able to find something but not remember getting rid of it. I've done that a few times. There are still a few things that I'm sure are here somewhere, but where?

Stay warm.

I understand how you feel about the book. I have some quilting books that I would be lost without. I am glad you found it.

I hope you do find the bracelet.

HI DI-
the pictures you took of the view around your place could have been taken right out my front or back door!!!! We are in a crystal ced sculpture. We lost power too but made the very best of the time - a nice fire, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, playing the guitar and singing.

SO glad about the book you found after 2 years. Wow!! And about the bracelet? Say a prayer to St. Anthony - he is the patron saint of lost articles. I swear. :-)

Stay safe and warm.
Love Gail
peace.....

I hope you can find your bracelet and happy that you found your book...you know what they say? You will find it in the last place you look. We just got dug out today. Only one small path in the road which hopefully will stay open, because we need to get out tomorrow. I put a picture on my blog and FB of the snow drifts. I do not put much stock in the ground hog predictions....Spring always follows winter and that is good enough...I fear many are going to have a horrible case of Spring Fever this year.

So happy you had a nice cozy 'snow day' with Katie! Your breakfast looks great, and I'm like you, I don't eat that way too often, so when I do feel like loading up on eggs for breakfast I don't sweat it.

And so glad you found your favorite crocheting book! But sad for you about the bracelet. And I think it's fine to pray that you find it, I was raised on that! Bring EVERYTHING to God in prayer. You need a parking space? Ask the Lord. You need to pay the mortgage? Ask the Lord. Big or small, He Cares about it all!

And since I was raised Catholic, I have a favorite Saint I pray to for lost articles ("Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around, something is lost and it's got to be found"), it works!

Stay safe in this icy/cold weather!
I took a container of salt with me on my walk to and from Jayden's school today, and I'm glad I did! Whoa! We were sliding all over the place!
I am weary of this weather, but when I think of all the problems in this old world, bad weather is the least of it.

Love you lots, Di!, E

All this weather, it makes for some great 'remember when' memories.

I have really missed visiting you! I've been so busy and haven't had time to browse through blogland. I'm glad I took the time to read this lovely post, bringing me up to date on what's going on with you!
I have started losing things too! Two years ago when I was packing to go to Pittsburgh, I put all of my "new" jewelry (anything that is not my three rings that I always wear or my little gold hoop earrings and my watch is "new" to me) into a little bag for the trip. I still haven't found it! I am pretty sure that I did throw it away in my rush to clean and pack at the same time. Not recommended! Anyway, I am glad you found your crochet book and I hope you find your bracelet and will lift a prayer up for you finding it.
I hope you enjoy the weekend and the Super Bowl! I know you're a Packers fan but I bleed Black and Gold since the 70s so I have to say "Go Steelers!" It should be a good and close game. I am very excited about it. My BIL is from Wisconsin and is a huge cheese head and has no sense of humor when it comes to friendly rivalry so we won't be talking until after the game!
Thanks for stopping by my place today! Sorry for writing a book here. xo Love, Vicki
