Hi Everyone, I've got updates!"

It is evening five for me in the hospital since the double knee replacement surgery. They moved me down to rehab last night. Rehab is another name for the place of torture that they put you in because they all think that you are doing SOooo wonderfully!!!

Actually I am doing very well and have managed to walk 148 steps at one time. That is a lot for me even before the surgery. I've been able to bath myself on a shower bench and use the bathroom on my own.

Walking is getting much easier. I am guessing that I will get to go home on Friday but if not, I'm not too awful worried about it. I miss being home with my family but I just want the time to heal properly.

I can tell you this much I know for sure, it is a very strange and odd feeling to go from having no control over your legs to being able to walk again. It really is an amazing feeling of accomplishment.

Again I won't sugar coat this healing process. It hurts a lot. But it's the kind of hurt that you know won't last. It's a healing pain.

So I have already made a short term goal for myself. I would like to be able to have my grandson Jack overnight and playing with grandma by November, the latest!!!

Oh and my whole family has been so kind and supportive, they really are great. Just like my Blog Family !!!

Love to you all, Love Di ♥

P.S. you may or may not have noticed that I am a bit more coherent today!!!

Hi Di!
You sound great, no more slurring of words and laying on the keyboard. LOL!
It sounds like you are moving right along!!! I'm sure you will be happy to get home and start your new life with good knees!
Heal soon!

Great news, Lady Di! Yes, the recovery part is painful and challenging. Your body is trying to figure out how to get along with the intruders placed in there by the doctors.
All of this for your benefit (though that may seem a little dubious at this point).
Blessings and Bear hugs.

It's good to hear from you again! And you "sound" wonderful, regardless.

Rehab is a pain in the tush, I know, but you're right. It will get better, you will be walking easier and you'll be enjoying life like you haven't for a long while.

Keep working on it! I'm sending love and hugs your way!!!

I was so glad to read this Diana, 148 Steps that is incredible. And I know you are sugar coating it because both knees at once has to be quite the thing. It sounds like once some healing is done nobody will be able to hold you down. In the mean time, run those corridors in your heart. you are a strong woman and I wish you all the best in this next phase. sending you love, the world is just going to open up for you now. hugs.

I don't hear a drop of regret in your words here - and you really ARE quite coherent! What a great goal! Keep on keeping on!

Wow! You sound great! It is a long process of healing but you will eventually get there. Keep smiling and trying. It is very hard to be patient. I think you will make your November deadline!

Congratulations, Diana! I am so happy for you! Thiw will make such a difference in your life... I just "got back" from going through Hurricane Irene--the preparations, the power outage until today, keeping the sump pumps running with a generator so there woudn't be water in the basement, and now my power has returned, allowing me to read your good news. I guess we've both missed a week, but yours was so worth it! Keep up the good therapy! Much love!
