" The Party is Coming to an End "

Summer is coming to an end. Well at least for Katie it is. This is her last week away at camp and I must admit I've really missed her this week. She has had a total of five weeks of camp this summer. One week away and the next home.

She just loves it and admitted to me that she will really miss it there. This is also her first year that she is not looking forward to going back to school. Who can blame her? They feed them like royalty, they swim, play, rest and worship. A full week of fun for her.

Yesterday I had to drive out to camp to pick Kate up. It was registration day at school. I do not like registration day at the high school. It takes forever. Lots of standing, walking and climbing stairs, painful!!

On the way to camp I noticed that the corn was as high as an elephants eye!!

It was a pretty drive.

There's the lake, we're almost there.

Just one more turn and we're on the camp road.

And there is my Katie, looking happy as can be missing her dinner to go register for school. I know the picture is horrible but I can tell you that she wasn't happy at all!!!

So we got through registration as quickly as possible, stopped home so Kate could grab a sandwich to eat on the way back to camp. She is feeling lots better by the way.

She was very happy to be going back down this road. The road to camp.

The rest of my week was pretty busy. I had a lot of loose ends I wanted to tie up at church.

I'm still not done but I'll have a few more visits to try and get things in order as much as I can. I was looking around my office and smiled as I noticed the pictures on the door that Katie made for me when she was little!

I just can't take them down! They have faded some over the years.
Also this old picture that I just love.

I really wanted to take some photos of some of the beautiful artwork in the church that day but I needed to leave so I will save that for another post.

Next Wednesday I will see my Orthopedic surgeon for one last visit before the surgery which is now only 12 days away.

I have been cleaning a house for a family for years now and I did that today. I will clean one more day next week and then I'll be done until I am healed and able to start again. My job will be waiting for me. I will miss them so much. But I am hoping that by next year I can clean a few houses a week instead of just one.

I can get a different job but it's nice making your own schedule and the pay is much better than working at a store. Plus I love to clean. If you've been here long enough you already know that. Which is why I expect to heal quickly, I can't sit still for long!!

So Kate will be home next week and then she will have her first day of school on the day I have my surgery the following week. Easy to remember when school starts that way!!

Oh I finally managed to get some weeds pulled this week despite the horribly hot and humid weather. Every time I took the dogs out, I bent over and yanked some out. I don't think the dogs cared much for waiting on me but the weeds are gone and the dogs are relieved!!

Now, I am going to try and find a good movie to watch. Have a fun weekend and stay COOL!!!

You sound so organized. It's good to get everything into place, isn't it. I'm sure your surgery will go well. I know others who have had knee surgery (including my brother) who say it is the best thing they ever did.

Big hugs,
Lois

I never had a chance to go to summer camp but when I read about it, I always wish I'd had a chance to go.
I know you'll be glad to be through with the surgery.
It won't be fun, but I think you'll be a new person afterwards.

I can hardly wait to read your posts in about a month to 6 weeks. It won't be "over," but you will be in a far better frame of mind, I'm thinking. I'm so glad for you that you are having this done!

I really admire someone that like to clean house! I don't like it, never have been keen about it.

I went to Bible camp when I was a teen. I remember one time my Mom cut my hair and it was so short, I couldn't even curl it with Bobby Pins! I looked like a Bald Eagle! That wasn't done, back then.

Try to leave a few things to do the last minute, I know, not your style, but would help to have something else to think about those last few days.

Have a good night now!

Oh my friends it is so wonderful to get all of your encouragement. I can't tell you how much this has helped me.
And Sharon, I will try and take your advice about saving some things for the last few days. It's a good idea.
And Lyn if nothing else the posts should be interesting! I shall try to watch my language as I do consider myself to be a lady!
However I will let it all out whatever it may be!
Also everyone, I've never been to camp as a young girl. I have camped out with my kids when they were younger. I am so grateful for Katie's "Positive" experiences.
Love you all, thank you so much!
Love Di ♥

So glad to know how well things are coming along. It's almost like you've got things under control. And how long will that last?
Blessings and Bear hugs.

Seeing your photos of taking Katie to camp made me nostalgic! What a blessing to have a camp experience! It was a part of forming who I became as a young adult. I pray for you as I think of you regarding your surgery! I am excited for you to get better and feel good! Your blog looks great! I am finally ready to read and post again. I took quite a long break. Blessings, friend.

So glad Katie is enjoying camp. I never went to camp, always wondered what it would have been like. ....I agree with leaving some things for you to do at the last minute to keep your mind off of it. I know you are in great hands and like one of the comments says you will notice such a change. thinking of you constantly and wishing you health and happiness. hugs dear friend.

Hey there! If you really love to do housework so much, why don't y'all come for a visit? :)

I like how you got the weeding done, bit by bit, Di. You are a determined lady, who will be up and running, well maybe not running, but ready to get the job of recuperating over and done with. Looking forward myself...to your new lease on life!

It's sweet that you still have her artwork up! Camp sounds great; wish I had gone as a kid. I wish you the best of luck on your surgery.

Hi Di!! How wonderful that Katie loves camp so much...and I know that the campers love her being there as much as she loves it. The drive there and back was so pretty. Thank you for sharing those photos with us.
And...that corn!! Sigh. Ours is gone...gone...gone....and I would love to go out and pick some more right now. It is delish! (High as an elephant's eye!!! :)) Love it...you make me smile, my friend.)
The fact that you have Katie's work on your door doesn't surprise me one li'l bit, Di. You are full of love...and love your children, and of course will have their work up....no matter how old they are now. That's wonnnderful.
I look forward to your next blog....anticipating your visit with the surgeon....hoping that all news is nothing but good news. Stay outa that heat, girl! Take care of my friend...and feel the hugs from me to you.
Love,
Jackie

I love the pictures of the road to camp. Makes me nostalgic for the winding, tree canopied road that led to "our" old camp home.

Your days really are numbered now, aren't they?! I'm impressed by how you are capitalizing on the energy you have! (Most of mine has been drained by the past days keeping up with grandchildren. Fun as it's been, I'm very tired.)

If we lived closer together I'd hire you to clean my house. I'd find SOME way to pay for it! It sure needs a cleaning and I'm not sure where to start...

The pictures Katie made you are too, too precious. I think it's wonderful that you keep them taped to the back of the door...

Stay healthy, my friend.

Diane, I'm so glad you have stopped by my blog and I hope that my experience will be helpful to you. I think you are having the same surgery as I had, the bilateral, which is a partial knee replacement, right?
I would love to be here for you to contact and to support you. Having just now made it to 6 weeks post op, I will say that I am feeling pretty good, with little pain, but still much slower moving than normal. Be patient, pray unceasingly, and email me if you'd like. I don't know if you can email from my blog or not (?) I'm fairly new to blogging. But I'll send you my email if you like. A friend who had been though the surgery did that for me and it was so helpful.
I go for my 6 week check on Tuesday, and I can't wait!
Oh, and how fun that you worked concessions too! I had so much fun in that job. I also worked the State fair, which was exhausting, but made a lot of money!

I'm writing this on the 7th so I guess that means 9 days left on the countdown. I hope you are keeping cool and not trying to get everthing done before then!

Nice story about Katie and it made me a bit sad about her old art work still on your door--sad that the kiddos grow up and leave us.

I used to clean houses, so I know where you are coming from. Good pay, flexible schedule, but hard work. I used to love to clean my own house, but as I've gotten older, I let more of it go. I'm great at organizing though and my house is still pretty darn clean!

Sounds like you are very busy. I cant believe August is flying by.
I'm sure Katie loved having all that summer fun at camp.
My kids are not looking forward to going back to school...lol. I've just finished up all the back-to-school shopping.
Nice photos too.
