Taking My Husband's Advice!"

After church yesterday, I didn't really have much to do. My husband who had left for work before church, suggested that I do a blog post but I just haven't been feeling it.

Picture of husband. I believe our granddaughter Sarah, took this as I was surprised to see it when I looked at my photos!!

I suppose there were plenty of things that I could have done but I just decided to be lazy.

It was a peaceful weekend. I bought some groceries on Friday, picked up husband from the truck that afternoon and then we both came home and cooked.

I made a pot of potato soup while Jake made a pot of chili. The chili went over better than the soup did. It was really delicious. Jake fixed me a bowl with cheddar cheese, sour cream and oyster crackers on top. It was DELICIOUS!

Saturday we went outside. Jake picked up all of the yard ornaments as I packed them. Then we cleaned the garage, made room for the big table, chairs and hose that will be brought inside in a few weeks. We're leaving them out for now in anticipation of having another fire before winter. We worked well and quickly together. And that's all out of the way before I get my left hand done this coming Thursday. The only things left outside are a few potted plants that are still hanging in there as well as the Cannas that aren't ready to be dug up yet. Unfortunately we don't live far enough south to leave them in the ground, they freeze.

When we were done and came inside, husband wanted to play video games and I wanted to clean the shadow box in the dining room. It's been awhile since it's been cleaned really well so it took some time. I think it came out rather nicely!!

Also as I was looking through my China Cabinet I found a little teapot that my mom had given me years ago. When I took it out, I noticed that it went rather well with the salt and pepper shakers that I picked up a few weeks ago!

Isn't he cute!

That evening we went out on the front porch to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Talked to a few of the neighbors and then my husband pointed out that the Lilac bush that my girls gave me on Mother's Day, was still blooming!!!

It's supposed to bloom all spring and summer. It's not very big yet but it is very pretty and here are the blooms...

I love this little bush and hope it makes it through the winter. I think I will put some extra mulch around it.

As I said before, I took Jake to his truck Sunday Morning and went to church. The rest of the day I played "Lazy" !

This morning I am going to the doctor for my pre-surgical visit for the left hand carpel tunnel release surgery on Thursday. My right hand is doing very well, no problems at all. So I will be glad to get this hand done and get this SURGICAL year behind me!!!!

Until next time, thanks for stopping by!!

You have been so very busy. And, it's fun to do it with your honey, isn't it. :) Your tea pot and salt shakers are a good match! Good luck with the next surgery. I'm so happy for you that the first one went well. :)

Huge hugs,
Lois

HI DI - such a wonderful post. Your life is so gentle and loving, simple in the best of ways. I will be sending lots of prayers for your Thursday surgery and well wishes. And that chili sounded SO good, oh and your soup too although you didn't mention what kind. Chicken perhaps? I have been a bit 'blue', yesterday was 3 months since my Mom passed away, and this huge transition we are in of moving from here after 20+ years is heart wrenching and also exciting, every emotion possible. Well, Happy Autumn ,
Love Gail
peace....

Where to begin????

The header (and whole look of your blog) is SO cool!

The shadow box contains my favorite stuff-blue & white!

I'm jealous of your having lawn cleared for season. And the way you worded your time with hubby sounds VERY beautiful (as I know it was to be together).

I'm praying for the success of this next surgery & SO happy to hear the other has gone so well...

Di, you are such a trooper! The surgery QUEEN! Bob is having his total knee replacement tomorrow. He is looking forward to it and I have used you as the example several times say "You know honey, my friend on blogger had 2 done and she is doing so well"! Please tell me you are doing well! This is the scary part of course the surgery and the waiting time and recovery time...but he wants to be able to walk and do his work with LESS pain as he is having today! Please keep him in your prayers! I look up to you soooo much! :)

Di, you are always so busy! I got up this morning thinking I'd polish the kitchen cupboards, but Bob talked me into a bike ride. You have a lot of Delft china in your shadow box. I'll be thinking of you Thurs. Good Luck! PS I've never heard of a lilac blooming that long.

Your shadowbox is BEAUTIFUL!! It's is sparklingly (is that a word? :)))
clean and sooo pretty, Di.
I love the teapot. It does go wonderfully with the salt and pepper shaker. Beautiful autumn colors, too!
Your winter approaches much quicker than mind, and I am jealous. I love cold weather, and we don't get much of it. Enjoy every moment, my friend. I know that you will.
As you approach this Thursday's surgery, know that I'm thinking of you. I hope all goes fantastic...that you have a quick recovery time from this surgery so that you can be out and about doing what makes you happy.
Your blog is beautiful.
I miss you....
Love,
Jackie

Di, I seriously doubt that you were actually lazy on Sunday . . . and if you really were, then you certainly earned a lazy day! You sure pack a lot into your days! Good wishes for Thursday's surgery. It's just been one thing after another for you. Hope this is the last for awhile. :)

I just came on over here to visit after seeing your comment on my post. And there were some of my friends already commenting! I don't know what the story is about your hand, but I do hope the surgery goes well. Sending you lots of positive energy! :-)

My goodness, you have been busy. There isn't nearly that much "getting ready for winter" that needs to be done in an apartment. And if you want to be lazy that's just fine.

Another surgery. I hope this goes at least as well as the others!

Blessings and Bear hugs.

Diana,
You must have really been uncomfortable having to get surgery in both hands. That bush is really pretty, & amazing it's still blooming.
Hope you have a great day!
Pat
