" Good Evening to All "

Good Evening everyone! I hope that we all enjoyed Wanda's birthday today! I didn't have any cake on hand but Katie did make these really good Turtle Cookie Bars last night so Wanda, I was thinking of you today when I had one. Also, calories, fat and cholesterol but it's your birthday so I won't dwell on those nasty words!

If you haven't yet wished Wanda a Happy Birthday or if you've never been to her blog, "Moments of Mine", there's still time and it is a beautiful place to visit.

I can't believe that it's only Tuesday. It is also spring break which means that no matter what I suggest, I will be hearing the same phrase all week " I'm Bored!".
But it's all good as I do have plenty to keep me busy.

The husband, after several hours of hard work and very sore muscles, did get the ceiling painted on Saturday. I was useless as I was still nursing a sore shin muscle from when I hurt my foot and my knees kept giving out. So I watched. Our ceiling is about 30 feet by 20  feet and 12 feet high. Oh did he have a sore neck and back! But he did a beautiful job and was very proud of his efforts as was I.

Sunday was indeed a day of rest! Jake went back to work early on Monday morning and I felt good enough to paint the front door. It took three coats and still needs a forth. I painted it the same color as the ceiling. I can't tell you the color as it's all hush, hush until the final day when all is completed. It will be sometime next month.

Today I was up and down the ladder priming one of the long walls with the door and four windows. It will need another coat but I will save that for tomorrow. I am trying to be careful and pace myself. My goal is to get the whole room primed so that when my husband comes home in two weeks, we will be able to paint it.

If things go well I may even get the paint on it myself, but again I don't want to over do! I took this week off of work so that I can work around here. I wanted to go out for a drive with Katie to "Devil's Prop" with a picnic lunch and our camera's but I'm not sure that she wants to go. She's been going back and forth to her friends house and as we all know, when you're 15, friends are more important!

Speaking of Katie, I didn't have time this weekend to do a "Retro Weekend" post but I have a couple of photos that I am going to slip into this post. The following is a picture of Ginny, Frank and Katie, my three children at Frank and Amy's wedding nine years ago.

My how Katie has changed! My how we all have changed! Ah but they are wonderful memories and I do have many beautiful photo's of that day. It was such a long day and there were so many pictures being taken that by this time poor Katie was starving!

I had a lot of time this weekend to sit, as that was about all Jake would let me do! So I went through some more of mom's photo's. I'm trying to pick out all of the photo's that I want to hang up in this room when it's done. This way I'll know how many frames that I will need. I am going to use all black frames this time.

Anyway, mom had at least as many photo's as I have, so this is a challenging task to say the least. And I really didn't even get into the sorting part yet but I did find a photo that I had totally forgotten about. It was mom, me and my grandma Laverne at my old house in Chicago. I'm guessing it was around 1982 or 1983. I had Ginny in that house and she couldn't have been more than one or two at the time.

I loved this picture because it showed mom and me being silly as we often did, and grandma just enjoying the whole thing! Ah yes we sure did get silly and have fun back then! Makes me wish that Katie wasn't so serious all the time.

As for the rest of the week I just plan on working. I am going to make a point of going for a spin on my bike as the temperatures are supposed to be 70's and sunny. I'd also like to work in the yard but I'm not Wonder Woman anymore for crying out loud! At the moment all I have is paint on the brain! But I do intend on actually enjoying this beautiful weather sometime this week as well. I hope that you can too, if you are fortunate enough to have some beautiful weather too.

If not, don't worry, it's on it's way! I wish you all a beautiful evening, Love and Blessings to you all!

Hi Diana!
Oh I do think we're getting that nice weather in a couple of days... right now we're getting deluged!

I enjoy your 'retro' pictures! It would be fun to have an "all retro day or a week" of posts!
Your picture of you, your mom and grandmother really shows your joyful spirits!

Diana, you ARE a wonder woman... with all you do! I am reading about how much you get done in one day and wish I could even do half that much!
It's always fun stopping over, Diana!
Enjoy your sunny days!

That's a great photo of Ginny, Frank and Katie, and you look like a young Ginny in the one with your mom and grandma.

I agree with Maria, I enjoy your retro photos. It's fun!

I want to enjoy the warm days too this week. Don't forget to pace yourself while priming the walls. I am curious about the color, but will wait for your before and after photos.

Thanks again for making me smile.
♥...Wanda

Oh Maria you give me too much credit. I wish I could do all that I could do thirty years ago. This dang living room would be done by now that I could guarantee!
Truthfully I pray a lot that God will help me get things done. And oh does he let me know when I've pushed my limits! Love Di ♥

P.S. I thought that I had a new admirer, Chris!

Hi Wanda,
I too enjoy the retro photos. I love when you put them on your blog! It's really fun to see how the kids change over the years, quite amazing really!
Don't worry Wanda, I could have been painting all afternoon (trust me, I wanted to!) but I sat with me feet up.You know, nobody ever said that doing the right thing was fun!

I am glad that you didn't push yourself so hard today Di, it just isn't worth it. It will be all finished and look lovely in a couple of weeks and I am looking forward to seeing the before and after photos. Have a great night my dear friend......:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie,
I'm being a good girl, so far! My calf's are sore but not too bad. I am going to bed soon and can sleep in tomorrow. I am thinking about my bike after some coffee!
We'll be lucky if the room is done by the end of April. Jake still has to put up seven new blinds and curtain rods! But I think it will be well worth the wait, after all, we've waited eleven years. Whats a few more weeks? Love You, Di ♥

Wow, Di, I'm tired just from reading your post! Busy!
It feels good to get things done though, right?
The painting sounds like it's coming along, and I hope it all goes smoothly for you and that you are happy with the end result! (Ray and I still have our front hall, the staircase, and the hall upstairs to do and we are both procrastinating on that chore!)

I loved seeing the photo of the kids, they look great! And Katie reminds me of your granddaughter in that picture!
And I loved, LOVED the picture of you, your Mom, and your grandmother! Pure joy!

And I actually did enjoy a piece of cake on Wanda's Birthday, my son Brian's Birthday is the day before, and we celebrated here so I had cake left over! And I thought of our friend Wanda as I enjoyed it!

Love to you,
Eileen

Hi Eileen,
I can understand your procrastination with painting the hallway and staircases, that is a chore! I remember painting a staircase corner that I couldn't reach. I had to tape a brush onto a broom to get in the corner because I couldn't reach it. It worked though!
Glad you were able to have cake on Wanda's birthday. I have to bake one this weekend for Frank's birthday.
Love Di ♥

Ahh, painting, Not a task I like. Thank goodness my husband is better at it than I am...it's just getting him to do it! We still have painting to do such as doors and trim too and since I am taking Friday off, I just may be able to get him to finish it. It's snowing today but I hope it clears up by Friday so that I can work in my garden...while he paints! Take it easy Di, don't over do it or you'll be back on the couch having Katie wait on you, (Is that such a bad thing?). Take care.
Hugs to you
Terrie

Take it easy, Girl! You ARE overdoing. Get outside on that blue chair and let the sun shine on your face. I cleaned my Fridge in Breck and thought of you - I did feel kind of smug. Hope you can take a spin on the bike soon. (I loved the old photos.)

Oh, man it sounds like you and hubby have really been busy. I loved the pictures. Your mom looked like a lovely woman. I agree with those who say you should not over do it.

Janine, Barb and Garnet,
I may have to take the day off today as my knee is protesting! I have been pacing myself and taking lots of breaks. But while the mind says YES, the body says NO! so I may just take a break today! And I'm proud of your clean fridge Barb!
