" Retro Weekend "

I think this photo was taken in 1989. Jake thinks it was taken after we were married but I don't agree.

We met July 29th 1989. Frank was eleven and Ginny was eight.
This photo was taken at my mom's house when we all still lived in Chicago. It was taken in the summertime.

Frank and Ginny looked about 11 and 8 years old in the photo. Which leads me to believe that it was taken right after we met that summer.
We were married exactly 5 months after we met. We were very much in love and I didn't feel right about us living together since I had two children.
A bit old fashioned I know.
Check out those HUGE eyeglasses! My how things have changed since then. We have all come a long way in twenty years, haven't we?

Retro Weekend Update:
I got to looking a little closer at the photo and I noticed that Jake and I were holding hands. There was a wedding band on a finger.

O.K. he was right AGAIN!

That looks like that era. I think everyone wore those big glasses back then. Ginny looks like she has beautiful hair.

I think this is a real cute picture, Jake looks like Joaquin Phoenix (I know this is spelt wrong, sorry) but you know who I mean the guy who played Johnny Cash.....anyway as I pull my foot out of my mouth I will say it is a great picture......:-) Hugs

Gee Bernie how did you know that I have always had a huge crush on Joaquin Phoenix! Seriously, and Jake knows it. Reread the post if you haven't already. I updated it!
I know we were a family meant to be.

I LOVE these trips back in time.
I'm going to have to get out some of our photos...EXCEPT I don't have a scanner. I'll have to take a photo of a photo..which isn't nearly as good as yours, Di.
I love this photo...and you know what...just give it a little while, and those glasses will be right back in style...as a matter of fact, as I look at the 'runway' of the stars, I see them now.
You are a lovely couple....and am I right in thinking that Frank was about to pick on Ginny? Such a typical thing! Love this. I was looking and looking for clues to try and help solve the mystery...and then I read your last part about the wedding ring.
I love to be a detective.
Love you, Di.
Happy upcoming birthday to Jake (aka Joaquin!) :))

Hey Jackie, I too noticed Frank getting ready to do something. As they were growing up, Ginny would always get Frank in trouble for picking on her. Then one day Jake and I discovered that she was always instigating him, which made him pick on her! That's when her little world came crashing down. Girls can be so sneaky can't we? LOL!
Love Di ♥

I agree with Bernie, Jake does resemble Joaquin Phoenix, it was nice seeing an early family photo, now we need one with the addition of Katie.

Joaquin Phoenix? I'm SO out-of-it!

Don't you just love how they're usually right (AGAIN)!

re. "Old Fashioned" - THAT'S what is right - as in "do the right thing"...

Well Wanda, Katie hates when I take her photo. It's fine if she takes it of herself but not me! Teenagers, whatever! Love Di ♥

Hi Lena,
I would love to start scanning all of the old photos and putting them on disc. My mom had some really old ones that I will share eventually. Loved the old clothes from the 30's and 40's! Love Di ♥

Hi Rebecca,
Yes my husband is right probably 99% of the time but please don't tell him! I have to have a little fun now and again!
As for the being married thing. I just think if your going to have children you should be married. I know there are a lot of women and men that can't help the circumstance that they have been dealt but I had a choice. And by the way, I proposed to him! Love Di ♥

So glad your sharing a retro week. They are fun to look at and trigger many memories of my own. You have a cute family and a handsome husband. Was it love at first sight?

Now THAT takes a REAL woman to build us all up making your case and then admit your HUSBAND was right. lol!

My kids found my 80's glasses last year and had themselves a great laugh. They can't believe we wore these things. I thought I was lookin' fine! I was CERTAINLY looking younger! :)

Great picture, Di!
Isn't it amazing how the time truly does just fly by? Where did those years go?
And looking back at these old pictures aren't you saying to yourself, "But where's Katie?" I do that all the time, I'm even looking for the grandkids in old pictures! I feel like they've always been here so they should be in the old pictures too!

I love walking down memory lane with you, and I hope you post more of your old pictures.

I also enjoyed your 'Superman' post! Were you able to get any of your plans done? You really were piling a lot on your plate there!
Things are moving very slowly here too with doing things over in the house. Life just keeps getting in the way! And finances aren't great right now, but slowly and surely it will eventually get done.

Did Katie enjoy her concert? How did the rest of the weekend go?
'Hope it was a good one!
Love to you,
Eileen
