" The Night Owl !"

Here it is after 9:00 p.m. and I am still awake. I took a really great nap today and yesterday. Also had a really good long sleep last night. I usually go up to bed about 9:00p.m., read my Bible for about 30 minutes and nod off. So I feel sort of strange being up right now! Sort of like I am doing something bad, LOL!! Geez!

I went to pick Katie up from camp this morning. I am trying to sound casual here but the truth is I missed her so much and couldn't wait to hear about her week at camp!

We were supposed to pick them up between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. I didn't want to seem too anxious so I decided to wait until 8:30 to leave the house! Imagine my surprise when I got a call at 8:15 asking me where I was?! "I'm on my way!" I told her as she hung up the phone.

I won't get into all of the detail, the important thing is that she had a really great time. She was very happy and I was very happy to see her, I received an actual hug from her! After we got home of coarse.

I know she was wiped out as by 11:30 a.m. she was napping! And so was I ! Well you know, it was hot as blazes here today, way too hot to work outside. And you will be happy to know that other than a nice big welcome home dinner I cooked for Kate, I didn't do any work today!

I really wanted to do some work in the yard today but it was 105 degrees with the heat index. I was dreading watering the plants. I guess God heard me because a nice storm rolled through early evening. Wasn't that nice of him? All of my plants received a good watering and it didn't cost me a penny!

It was still lightly raining when I took the dogs out at 9:00p.m. Katie had already went to sleep, again. The rain and the breeze felt heavenly. I have been working here and there on my toad house. It is a slow tedious project but it is looking rather nice. I read somewhere that a single toad can live up to 40 years! I wonder how long it could live if it were married! Sorry, I just couldn't help myself !

Katie informed me that there will be another camp for teens in August. She really wants to go again. My basement needs a good cleaning. We struck up a deal. Starting tomorrow after church, we will start working on it. There is just too many things that need to be done around here and I can't do it all myself anymore. So we will see how much help she will be!

Don't worry, even if she helps a little, I will still let her go but we won't mention that o.k.? She starts driving with her instructor next week for the next six weeks. Then the plan is a trip to see her big sis in North Carolina. The next camp would be after that.

I am just happy that she has things to do this summer, last summer was so long and boring for her. Nothing that I suggested was good enough!

I went for a visit yesterday to my son's house. My granddaughter and two of her friends were having a lemonade stand. Good thing grandma showed up. I had to show them the fine art of sales and customer service!  They ended up making $17.00 ! It was fun, I have a photo but my camera is in the other room and it's time for this girl to go and get some rest.

I have done enough sitting the past two days, so after church tomorrow I will get busy again. Well maybe !
I hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

Di...I'm glad that Katie is home...and I smiled so much when I read about the hug... She missed you and you missed her. That's love...and love is wonderful.
I'm glad that God watered your plants.. It sounds incredibly hot there! Please, take care of you...and don't work too hard.
(I smiled at the 'toad' comment...) Di...you do make me smile.
I'm up late, too. It's almost midnight and I have church early in the morning, so I'd better get some sleep....but I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you...am glad that Katie is home...and that you are doing well. Take care of you, my friend.
Love,
Jackie

I'm sure you missed Katie. My youngest son starts college this fall and his first 2 years he will still be home, but his 2nd 2 years he will stay at a dorm, 3 hours away. I'm sick when I think about it, so I don't think about it much.

I can't image it being so hot here. I live without air conditioning and the highest it's ever been is 101, but that was rare. Usually it's around 85-90 on the worst days. I sure would be sleeping alot. The heat is draining.

I like the sound of this post. There's a privateness in it that I can relate to.

Hi Diana!
I finished the scrapbook for Rachael & Juan... very late last night... pretty tired today. Our pastor's sermon was great so I stayed awake through our service ;o)

It's rainy here too... It's actually fairly cool compared to last week's temps!

I love getting and giving hugs. When you hugged Katie, it must have just covered your heart with warmth...
It's so good for the heart and soul to feel that kind of love.
I remember a period of time that my son Jason would "kind of" give me a hug... something I think was part of "growing up," I guess. When that phase was over, thank God, and I started getting "real hugs" again... it was sooooo nice!

Diana, I read your previous post...about a room full of "crap." LOL LOL I have to smile, although it's actually sad... I have a few like that right now. It seems that as soon as I get things "settled" the forces of nature make things go bake to their original condition!!! Oh well... as long as we all love each other!
Take Care, Diana...
wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

ps. I liked Julie and Julia... I agree with you --- the Julia Child part was my personal favorite... I loved the Paris scenes too...
{I'm glad I didn't pay full price at the theater though--- free from the library was perfect ;o)

A little absence makes the heart grow fonder, that hug from Katie was worth her being away and you missing her! It sounds like Katie has a nice summer ahead of her, visiting with Ginny will be her favorite probably!

We're having a wet weekend too, the humidity yesterday was almost unbearable...so we mostly stayed in. Am going to watch Alice In Wonderland with Johnny Depp, I hope it's good!

I was so surprised at the money Sarah made selling lemonade! She should do it all summer! :)

Sounds as though Katie needs a social secretary to manage her full schedule (I'm available)! I cannot stand temperatures that high, Di. However, it snowed at my house overnight, and I could stand not having 4" in my yard and gardens. I remember that Katie did a great job cleaning her room last year - she should be a big help to you.

Di~I just love your posts. I'm glad that Katie had a great time at camp, what type of camp was it? I have gone to camp since I was little, about 8 yrs old...I'm 26 now, wow!! you are so positive, and seem like a wonderful woman, and mom, and gramma!! Grammas are so important. I just love and appreciate your responses to my page as well...they sure do mean alot to me!! I know I am just starting out, and have onyl 3 followers, but it's a good start I supose...
And heat like that is certainly not a good thing. YAY for rain!

Have a great week...

Oh, how nice that Katie had fun at camp. :) Camp is one of those things that kids either love or hate.

Hugs,

So glad your girl gave you a hug, even if it was after you got home!

I remember all too well my camp days. I bet she's exhausted!

Talk about a night owl...it's 11:35pm and I have to be at work at 5:00am. Guess I need to get to bed wouldn't you say!!

When your Katie is finished with your basement, you can send her over here to help me! What a great ("secret") plan to keep her occupied. Sounds like the summer will pass quickly though with all that activity. I'm SO thankful she liked camp enough to want to turn around and go back in August!

I could wish that lemonade stand were closer. (I DID make a lemonade pie yesterday and sent it with my husband to the church board meeting last night. A piece came home and I can now say, "It was incredibly good!"

I am still chuckling over A/C's comment.......I am so glad Katie had such a good time, her summer does sound like fun.
I know you are happy to have her home, I agree with Wanda, sometimes a short time away does make the heart grow fonder as well as you being appreciated.
Big Hugs.......:-)
