July 4th 2012 8:45 p.m.

Well here it is almost 9:00 p.m. , Independence Day 2012 !!
I was sitting here contemplating going up to bed as I have to get up at  5:45 tomorrow. I have my weekly house to clean and it takes me forever to wake up anymore. I am slower, HA!!

The husband is gone, he should be sleeping by now. Somewhere north of here. Katie left with her boyfriend. They are off to the airport to see the fireworks display. Jake and I used to take her when he would be home. I always found it too hot and too crowded to really enjoy. That and the fact that I grew up in a pyrotechnic family.
Simply put, I had to help every year setting up several shows a season. It's a break of dawn till early in the morning job. Quite honestly, if I never see another fireworks show, it wouldn't break my heart. But I do understand the enjoyment that the crowds get from watching them.

My husband always laughs about the one year that I told a traffic police officer how I felt about the horrible parking situation as if it were his fault!! I don't like crowds. I think I am claustrophobic to a degree. I can't stand the feeling of being trapped in a space.

So here I sit by myself which is fine. I'm tired and pretty much ready for bed. The sounds of fireworks going off in the neighborhood bothers the dogs so I feel bad leaving them downstairs but they've been alone before through it. Ruby just likes to bark every time one goes off while Roxy just sits and shakes poor thing. I can't take them upstairs with me because that is the cats territory. My dogs and cats don't get along real well. They are all stubborn.

The real reason I am posting this is to let everyone know that I had to enable my word verification. I didn't want to as it can be such a pain but I was getting lots and lots of the "S" word. I don't want to type the word so I hope you understand. And I hope it won't stop you from visiting. I may disable it in the future but for now it is a necessity. I hope you understand.

Well kids it's bedtime for me and I hope you all had a safe and fun evening. Happy Independence Day, God Bless America. Goodnight.

There's nothing wrong with a little alone, down time.

Glad you are enjoying some solitude. Bob and I did walk down and sat outside at the Riverwalk listening to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. A few sprinkles again today, but we can only hope for more. Don't work too hard Di! Nighty night.

We usually have a wonderful fireworks show on Canada Day (July 1st). We missed it this year; we were too tired, and it was rainy.

It's evening, but happy Independence Day, Diana!

Happy 5th of July, Diana!
Yea... sometimes it's nice to just watch the world instead of run with it!
I've been nostalgic this week too... as we are painting all the bedrooms {such sore arms!} and keep finding mementos... photographs, old, old toys! The photographs really get me going!

I know what you mean about spam comments etc. What I did for my posts {somewhere in the settings for comments} any post more than 4 days old gets moderated. So the comments go to my email and blogger for approval. All the anonymous ones go to spam ...
Last week, I received a comment about an Olympic jello dish that one of my students made - asking about the recipe. {this post is 2 yrs old!} I would have never known without comment moderation.

Today, my word verification is legible... so not too bad.

Wishing you lots of R & R and nice, quiet days!
Blessings to you always, Diana

I remember when you posted about going to the fireworks display with your husband and Katie ~ unbelievable how fast they grow! Now she's gallivanting (or is it galavanting? Spellcheck is giving me both!) anyway, she's out and about with her boyfriend now!

I'm with you, I do think the firework shows are pretty spectacular, but I could live without ever seeing another one again. Ray was watching one on TV last night (they televised the one on the Hudson River, Regis Philbin was the host), it was pretty, but mostly I loved all the patriotic songs.

I don't even know if I have the word verification on this new blog of mine. I know I had done that four day setting thing with my last blog, but I've been so negligent with this blog. I have to find some time to set it up right. I used to hate the word verification, but now I find it a fun challenge! Trying to decipher these crazy words/letters! It's kind of fun! Most times it takes me two tries to get them right! Ha!

Enjoy the rest of your week, Di! Don't work too hard!
Love you!, E
PS ~ I think the verification this time is corpolor 300, now let's see if I'm right!

I think I'm re-entering the blogger world--been gone for a while. I had not ever had a lot of spam but always a good idea to block it. Blessings.

understand about word verification...and claustrophobia and pyrotechnics and dogs...and cats! there was a party in one of the apartments behind me...lively and loud and pyrotechnic! when I saw the flash on the LR wall I figured for sure they were going to set us on fire ;) while loud and festivities lasting after midnight...no police or fire trucks had to come...I gave them a fair shake mainly because I can remember a sports car party in the back yard years ago...a neighbor who was not invited over called the cops! such is life!
