" Hi Dee Ho Everybody "

I'm back again. For now anyway. So grab yourself a cuppa Joe or a cocktail, depending on what time of day it is when you read this.

Don't worry, I won't be judgmental.
It's been a rough couple of weeks here in my household, my husbands COPD took a bad turn. He's getting better now. It was tough though.

Katie turned sixteen, we did manage to take her out of town to the big mall to shop with her bestest friend in the world.

Despite the fact that my husband had to push me around in a wheelchair for several hours, the girls had a good time and my husband held up through it all.

Katie was pretty bummed out on her actual birthday as we had to cancel going out to my son's house for a little party due to bad weather. My heart ached for her.

She still hasn't been able to get her drivers license as the DMV is not doing road tests due to the ice and snow that we've had here.

Last night was the worse. We had an ice storm. Our little town actually made it on to the local t.v. news, whoo, hoo! We were just covered in ice this morning. And of coarse my bad tire decided to go almost completely flat again. I've been putting air in it the last few days but I knew this morning that if I didn't do something about it today, it would be totally flat by tomorrow.

So around 11:00 a.m. I spread sand all down my driveway, it's very long by the way, and off Katie and I went over the ice covered roads to get the tire fixed. I was grateful that the tire store was just a few blocks from the house.

As it turned out it wasn't repairable but fortunately they had a good used one. Thank you God! And thank you to all of the nice young men that took care of it while oogling my daughter!

I told her to smile at them in hopes of a discount! But she ignored my silly request. That's alright though, they were reasonable enough.

As you probably already guessed , the schools were closed today. I was glad to have Katie's company. After we came home she baked chocolate chip cookies. She is such a good baker and cook, I just wished that she'd do it more often.

I just took the above photo from my front porch a few minutes ago. It's a bit fuzzy but all of that SHINE is the ice covered ground. You can see the little incline of my driveway. If I had not put sand down it would have been interesting trying to maneuver up it on our way back home. I can do it but Katie still has not mastered this slippery slide up! And I didn't let her practice today!

I didn't manage to put out all of my Christmas decorations this year. With my husband being home sick it was just too much! But I did get quite a bit done none the less. I gave up when my knees gave up but it still looks pretty good.

This was taken when we finished the tree. Katie made us milk shakes!

Of all the decorations that I have though, this has to be on the top of my list. I always keep it in my kitchen on a shelf next to the sink. It has a little pot that you can put a scented wax tart in. In the oven you can put a tea light candle.

It is just one of those simple little things that I just love.

I haven't really been feeling very well so you will forgive me if I am not sounding my usual happy self. I hit sort of a rough spot on the 5th. This will be my first Christmas without mom. But it's alright. I have a feeling that she's with me anyway. It's just a strange feeling, her not being here.

I'm going to try to get some better (clearer) photos of some of mine and my mom's Christmas decorations. I don't seem to do to well with my camera, I think I just need more practice with the settings.

I am going to make that a project over the next few days so that I can post them. I have also been working on an afghan for my daughter in laws sister who is expecting a baby girl on Valentines Day.

It makes me think of my cousin who lost her daughter on Valentines Day this year. I'm always thinking of you Roxanne.

That's all of the news that I've got for now. Just trying to make it through these past few weeks has been tiring. I promise to do my best to visit all of you and not stay away so long.

Some of my blog friends have been going through some very stressful and trying times lately and I just want you to know that I am praying for you and your loved ones.

Wishing you all a peaceful day or evening!

Oh, Di, I'm so happy to see a post from you!
And I'm glad that you and Jake are feeling a little better, so sorry you've been having such a hard time of it.
And so sorry for Katie's disappointments with her Birthday plans spoiled and not being able to take her driver's test, I can imagine what a let-down that is for her.

And I can't get over that ice storm! Wow! It looks so dangerous, I can't believe you had to be driving in that! But I'm glad you were able to get the new tire without too many problems. And I'm glad you got back home safe and sound, and reading about Katie being home with you and baking cookies sounded so sweet, and home-y, and cozy!

I thought the milkshake was an ice cream cone in that picture, what is it in? It looks like one of those wonderful old-fashioned beer glasses! And it looks delicious! Milkshakes are one of my weaknesses, I wish I had been there to have one with you!

I love your favorite decoration! I have a few tart burners, lots of plain ones, and a few decorative ones, I use them a lot. But yours is so unique! Thanks for sharing that video, the little oven all lit up looked so cute! And I love the little bears (at least I think they were bears).

I agree with you about all our blog friends who are going through some tough times now, they are in my prayers.
You too, Di. I know this time of year is not easy for you, especially thinking of your Mom and missing her.
And your cousin too, so much heartache. Life just seems so unfair at times.

Lots of love to you, Di.
And many prayers, E

You've had some real bad weather, I see. Is your husband feeling better?

Hi Eileen,
The glass is an antique Champagne flute. Just one of a set that we have. My husband has a thing for collecting glasses and mugs, honestly we could open a restaurant!
Thank you for all of your well wishes. We will all be aright, God will see to it! And yes we will be praying hard for our friends.
Love Di ♥

Hi AC,
Yes Jake is doing better. The doctor put him on a new medication. It was rough going for a bit but he seems to be better now. Thank you for asking!
Love Di ♥

You got the ice and we got all the snow up here....what a mess.

I sure hope you two are feeling better soon.

Hi Jules,
I saw all of your snow and that was a lot! I think given a choice I'd rather have the snow. It is nearly impossible to walk over that ice!
Love Di ♥

It is good to see you back. I'm sorry you are having such a rough time of it recently. I hope things begin to smooth out soon.

I can stand about any weather, but ice is scary. I don't like heat and humidity, but ice is the worst. Stay in, stay warm, stay safe.

Love you! <3

I love your decoration in your kitchen that plays "Jingle Bells"...and how wonderful that you videoed it and put it on your blog. I loved that...feeling that I am visiting with my dear friend at Christmas time....hoping that one day...one year, we'll be able to meet and hug and laugh together. You warm my heart....and I send you great big hugs....and wishes for a blessed Christmas, dear Diana....a very blessed Christmas. Hi Lyn,
I so agree, the ice is horrible. It's still all ice today (Friday). Kate is off of school again and is going with me to clean house and then pick up her friend for the night. I will just be crawling down the roads. Wish I didn't even have to go but I have to so! Thanks for your words of encouragement! Love you too, Di ♥

Hi Jackie,
This has been a very strange year. I want to say awful but it has had good times and highlights!! Hearing my grandson Jack tell me that he loves me for the first time was awesome!!! I hope we get to meet someday too Jackie and I really think that we will someday. And when we do, I want some photo taking lessons!! LOL! Love Di ♥

Sorry you are missing your Mom. I know the feeling, this is the first year without a relative for me either, and it's not easy by any means. ((Hugs))

Hello Di...
It's heartening to know that Jake's COPD has improved with new medications. The snow covered roads looked frightful to me and you easily drove away on them was skillful. This christmas, without physical presence of your mother will certainly fill up your heart with more respect and love for her.
Jingle bells and smiling Di... with milk shake in hands at night with holy christmas tree in the backdrop were so refreshing !!!!.

Wishing a smiling weekeng for all of you out there,
Regards,
dr.'y'.

Di, I was just reading how a sedentary lifestyle can exasperate COPD. I never thought of trucking as sedentary, of course you always think about truckers being on the road and on the 'go'. But it was listed as one of the 'sedentary careers' that come with a whole host of complications.
I know the life of a trucker isn't easy, and I'm so sorry for all Jake has been going through, and so sorry for all your trouble.
I hope things have turned the corner for the better now.
Love and Prayers,
Eileen

It was nice to come find this Post Di, glad that you and Jake were able to get out and take Katie shopping. I hope that Jake is doing much better and you are doing OK as well. You were lucky to find a place that had a good used tire you could put on your car. I kind of feel your loss with your Mum not being around. But I bet she is a lot closer than you think. Hope your ice soon melts and you are able to get around a lot better. I think Ice is the worst to try to get around on.

You take care of yourself, Prayers being sent for all of you.

Hello my friend! So happy to hear that you two are feeling better. Oh my gosh it has just not ended t his year as far as everyone having something going on in their lives. I know how hard it is missing our mothers too. I try and think of the funny little things my mom use to do at Christmas. She didn't like Christmas at all. She refused to shop and would make my dad write us all a check...then make us do the shopping, wrapping, and then bring it all over to their house on Christmas eve, open our presents that we bought so she could see what "she" bought us! LOL actually I think she was very smart! with 21 grandchildren 7 children and their spouses I don't think I would shop either...LOL Yeah I miss those Christmas Eve's with all of us together, she would NEVER take an excuse and we ALL would meet. AHHHH great now I will have to write a post about this...(sniff) love you Di thinking of you and family and hope you are all well for Christmas and 2011!

Good to hear from you. I'm so sorry about the difficult time you've had with health, weather, etc.

I think one of my least favorite things to deal with is icy roads!

Oh, Di! I'm sorry about all of your difficult times...

I miss icy winters so much... *sigh* Not the driving on ice, not the walking on ice... Just the whole idea of a proper winter...
Sending you tons of sun and warmest hugs!!

Hi Di! I was so happy to see that you had posted. I'm sorry Jake was sick. It sounds as though you've had a rough couple of weeks. I hope all of you are feeling better. Your little Christmas oven is very cute! I also have some scented wax melting - it makes the ouse smell as though I'm baking (even though I'm not!). Most of all, I want to wish Katie a Happy Sweet 16!

Di, Wanda's husband Richard had a bad day today, I know you will remember him in your prayers. She needs our support right now as she is very worried. Luv ya, xo
