Topic : Hobbies

A hobby is an activity or interest that is undertaken for pleasure or relaxation, often in ones spare time.

I am so happy that this definition is so broad. I mean really, anything can be a hobby as long as it is done for pleasure or relaxation!

I personally have had many hobbies over the years as I am sure most of you have as well.

For example, coloring can be a very relaxing hobby. Who needs to stay in the lines?

And then of coarse one of MY favorite hobbies would be sleeping. There just never seems to be enough time!

You need plenty of sleep if you were to pursue the " Swinging upside down " hobby.

Yes swinging upside down takes quite a bit of energy as does the hobby of bike riding !

Some people choose less physical activities as hobbies such as hanging out at church.

And than we have those that choose somewhat silly hobbies such as wearing fruit on their heads..

Dressing up their pets.....

Or even collecting cats!

Some people choose traditional hobbies such as crocheting.

Or sewing.

Some people like to cook and bake. And while I really did bake the Blackberry Crunch in the picture, you know that I would never choose cooking or baking as a hobby! If you know me you know that I am not a fan of the kitchen!

Sarah however would probably like baking for a hobby !

Many people love to craft for a hobby. Now that's one that I like! Anyone for a Paper Mache " Monster "?

One of my husbands favorite hobbies besides playing board games and video games is READING! The man reads all of the time! So does his granddaughter.

Speaking of the above mentioned board games, my husband and I often relax over a number of them....

He won this one. But I can hold my own very well thank you!

There are millions of people who like to garden as a hobby. Planting flowers is one of my favorite summertime hobbies.

I also like to play with fire !

Believe it or not, there are many people that actually like to mow for a hobby ! The two below are a perfect example !

So as you can see there are a wide variety of hobbies. I think that you can call anything a hobby as long as it gives you Pleasure , Relaxation and Enjoyment in your spare time.

With that being said I have decided, today, to make weeding my new hobby. I do it often in my spare time. I enjoy it when my yard looks neat and I get great pleasure from a job well done. So I am no longer going to consider weeding a chore. This is what I weeded today.

It is going to be my new hobby. I think it may be the only one that I will have time for this summer !

This is what is waiting for me!

I guess I have lots of hobbies according to this.

A few of my favorite hobbies are gardening, reading, and hanging out with my grandchildren.

I really like your yard, Di! It looks inviting, and I think it would be both relaxing to sit there and FUN!
'Wish I could come and roast some marshmallows over your fire pit!
We had one when we owned a cabin upstate, and I really enjoyed that a lot.
'Loved all your hobbies and I loved all your pictures too! Although I felt like grabbing Sarah and putting her upright! She's scaring me! I much prefer the picture of her sleeping peacefully!

You look like you are having such fun on your bike! My sister Diane and I have been bike riding in the mornings, I enjoy it a lot!

Great post, Di!
And it was nice to get to know you a little more!
Love you!, E

Hello my friend, the truth be known my whole life is a hobby. I decided a few years ago if I didn't enjoy something then I wasn't going to do it and I have kept pretty much to this rule.
I love family, friends, books, sports, sunshine, snow storms, warm rains......well it is easier if I just say what I don't like. Snakes and heights.....love your photos Di, your grandchildren are beautiful......:-)Hugs

I like the picture of you at your new sewing machine the best!

What a fun post - what a busy life you have. (You're right about the weeds. It might keep us going all summer.)

Come to think of it, blogging is "hobby", too, isn't it?

What a fun and enjoyable post--and I read it in my spare time while relaxing!

We have a big garden, so I'm probably going to join you in the "weeding" hobby; I hope I can relax and enjoy it!

Diana, your posts are so much fun. They make my morning. :) Yes, anything can be a hobby, can't it, it's all in our view of life and attitude. :)))

I love your outlook on life Di. I will try to think of weeding as a hobby from now on, but I'm not promising!

We.ve had thunderstorms here, both last night and this moring, with power outages! :(

I really like your walking stones and the birdbath with the turtles! Your yard looks peaceful, a nice place to rest after all those hobbies you do!

♥...Wanda!

A great way to look at yard work...the results of your hobby is pleasing for everybody. My photography of Nods, blogging, collecting vintage books, needle punch, rug hooking are among a few of my hobbies.

I totally wish I could make eating a hobby.

You covered a wide range of hobbies here, some which I have enjoyed in the past and some that I still enjoy. When I was growing up I had many hobbies, like stamp collecting. I still have my stamp collection so I guess it is still one of my hobbies but it's just on hold. Hobbies are an important escape, but they can also turn into a profitable enterprise.

Please, please, please - if you have started weeding as a hobby, you must come to CO right away. I can keep you busy and happy every minute of the day, Di! Also - I enlarged the pic of the biker just to make sure it was YOU!

Really like your thought process here. To enjoy what you do as against always doing what you enjoy :)
