" Free at Last ! "

The husband went back to work today after ten days of being home. Katie started her first full day as a freshman today after being home all summer.

You know that that means don't you ? Well I will tell you what that means. Finally after months of waiting I can once again go back to vacuuming in the nude while having a nice cool pitcher of cocktails!

Alright , so I really wouldn't have the nerve to do that exactly and I don't know that I would care to. Although I have never really tried it so I cannot say for sure. Maybe one of you have and can get back to me on that.

What I have been doing since they both left is cleaning. Sounds exciting I know. For some reason unknown to me , whenever my husband Jake is home I get very lazy and not by choice. I think he puts a spell on me. Although the whole while that I am sitting there like a zombie staring thoughtlessly at the boob tube with him , my brain does tend to have to fight off the urge to get up and move. Thus my excitement at their departure today. I will have a clean house once again!

And then when my whole house is back up to my standards , I will be able to truly relax without guilt!
As I stated in an earlier post , at least I think I stated in an earlier post , I am very proud of my husband as he accomplished everything on his to do list and a few extras!

The best part about it was that he did it all at the beginning of his vacation this time. He usually waits until the last day and runs around like a crazy man trying to get it all done. If he had his own blog I would give him an award for that!
Something else I wanted to mention , Katie ( my 14 year old ) said to me a couple of weeks ago that I was going to cry on her first day of high school. I said that I wouldn't cry. Can you guess who was right?
If you guessed Katie , you were wrong. Sorry but I do believe that this was the first time that I did not cry on her first day of school. I realize that this probably makes me sound like a bad mother , but after having kids in the house for 31 years , well I do believe that I am looking forward. Forward to what , I haven't a clue! But forward none the less.
We had a wonderful visit Sunday at our son Frank and his wife Amy's house . It was wonderful seeing little baby Jack walking and talking. And he gave me a piece of mulch. My very first gift from my first grandson, how very special !
And as usual my cutie pie granddaughter Sarah had many , many things to catch me up on. As soon as we arrived she pulled me aside and said " I have so much to tell you grandma! ". And we had to go and sit away from everyone so she could fill me in on everything. She called me that same night when I got home to tell me goodnight and promised to call and tell me all about the first grade. I can't wait to hear!
Here is a photo of my boys.
My son Frank. My grandson baby Jack , who just woke up from a nap.
And my Teddy Bear ( husband ) Jake!

I do have more stories to tell about our time together but I must go clean. It's a have to thing with me ! My husband thinks that I have a problem with it. Whatever , at least my house will be clean!
I am going to leave you with one final photo today. I'll bet you're relieved! I have more to post but will save them for later.
This one is of us girls. The only one missing is my beautiful daughter Ginny, who lives in North Carolina. Prayerfully we will get to see her soon as she is always in our hearts and on our minds. We love you Gin !

From left to right , My mom Ann, Myself , my daughter Katie, my Daughter-in-law Amy and in front of me is my granddaughter Sarah.

I am now off on my cleaning frenzy.

Hi Diana - wow, they start back to school early in your neck of the woods. :-) Lucky for you, huh?

Great photos of you and yours ......

And I recall when my daughter cam back home, the one I posted about the other day, when her son was two!! It was a challenging time for all and I have SO many stories. WHen she left, we had the room all rearranged in 7 hours,. No tears, no stall, we painted, washed the ruggs, set up my drums and my husbands key board and guitars and other music quipment, and it wsa or music room again - it also is my son's room when he comes home which is holidays, some weekends and a week in the summer - he is a teacher in the South Bronx having graduated NYU's English Scholars program and he lives in Brooklyn. Anyway, in 7 hours you would never have known our daughter and grandson lived here. No trace!! :-)
So ya, I SO get your feeling free to do as you want even vacuuming naked with a pitcher of martinis in sight. Enjoy.

Love to you
Gail
peace.....

Diana...FIRST...glad you're back with your funny wit...You look so happy in your photo...You must have enjoyed those 10 days of husband being home!!!

But, ath the sam time...I totally get your freedom celebration. Mothers & Wives deserve that time alone...where you can clean without interruptions...all the while playing loud music of "your" choice...dance around or sing along...just time to be DIANA...not mom or wife! :)

If any of the village people secretly admit to the naked vacuuming...please let us know.

Enjoy Your freedom!
Wanda

Ha... chuckling at what Gail wrote at the end of her comment...
I have to put on 'oldies' music when I have a lot of housework.

It's over 90 here... so, I'm feeling pretty lazy...
no central air ... just a little air conditioner in the dining room.
Diane, I know what you mean about a husband's spell...
Chris and I love relaxing together so much...and... when we get those moments to ourselves...we don't want them to end!
all the best, Maria

Hi Gail,
It's amazing what you can do to your house when you put your mind to it. We've been changing things around here a lot lately too. And you are right, they start school way early here. And it's so hot and not all of the school has a/c so I'm sure Katie will be pleasent when she gets home.
It's so nice that you have a music room. We have a huge old organ, electric and acustical guitars and nobody knows how to play them! Crazy right ?

Hi Wanda,
I promise that if anyone divulges any info on naked vacuuming I will let you know first! But I will keep their identity a secret!
I am taking a break from cleaning the downstairs. Only three more rooms to go. The upstairs will have to wait, it's to hot up there.

Hi Maria,
We don't have central air either, just window units in the frontroom and bedrooms. And it's horribly hot today. I am dreading fixing dinner in the hot kitchen but Katie will be hungry when she gets home and I'm hungry now, so maybe just some quick burgers or leftover spagetti tonight! I just keep coming back to the frontroom to cool off! I'm looking forward to fall! Love Di

Hi Diana
First - do you require any assistance with your cleaning? LOL
Second - sorry not to have come round earlier - I feel I should clone myself - no the world would stand only one of me!!
Thank you for calling round with your lovely comments.
We had some fun at Marcy's and Jackie's recently - I will be back at I am glad the giant did not shock you too much - I really enjoyed writing that in verse.
Very best wishes and hope to see you soon - I am listening to Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 1 as I type and it always helps me to focus on my writing ~ Eddie

Naked vacuuming? Not ME! I even get showered, dressed, hair and make up before I come down to my office to work my full time paying job from home. Some that I work with work in their jammies, not me, I have to get dressed for work in order to work! (OK, I'll confess, I don't wear a bra but I do wear socks!)

Glad you're back!
Terrie

Hi Eddie,
Somehow I knew the naked vacuuming would get you LOL! Unfortunately I ran out of steam by the time Katie came home. It being her first day in high school and with all of the cleaning that I did we both fell asleep!
I know how busy you are Eddie with all of the followers that you have so it is a pleasure when you get to stop by.

Hi Terrie,
Really the only time I wear make-up is when I work at church and I rarely do that anymore. With all of this natural beauty I have going on who needs make-up?!!!!
Seriously I think I have reached the age where I will wear Make-up for me, if I'm in the mood. But I will not leave the house without a bra on, but it comes off as soon as I walk in the door!

So fun to try to imagine running the vacuum naked, etc.

I love the story of your granddaughter wanting to get you apart from the others so you could have a chat. My little one does that, too! And does she have the stories to tell!

Gotta cut this short. It just started storming and I want to get computer off the electrical grid! More later!

Hi Diana,
CELEBRATE! However, vacuuming in the nude is not what it's cracked up to be. However, to each her own...
I loved the 4 generation picture with your mom, you, daughter, and grand daughter.

Hi Di, it is so good to have you back. Now if you want to read about someone vacuuming naked I suggest you read Anvilcloud's last post....now you have to visualize LOL
Your house sounds squeaky clean, I know that will make you feel better for sure.
How was Katie's day at school?
So glad you had the time with Jake, you both deserve that time together.
Loved your photo's, handsome men and the girls are beautiful. You look great Di, I was so happy to see you looking so healthy.
Now don't work too hard in all that heat, we want you to stay for a while....you were missed.
Luv ya......:-) Hugs

Hi Rebecca,
O.K. I hope everyone does realize that I do vacuum fully clothed!
I really had so much fun with Sarah. I do believe that next to being a mom, being a grandmom is one of Gods greatest gifts to us women. I truly feel blessed.

Hi Barb,
I might get myself in trouble here but just how do you know vacuuming naked is not what it is cracked up to be? Perhaps there is more than hiking going on out west!
Just Joking Love ya!

Hi Bernie,
I am so happy to be back thank you! I will definetly check out Anvilclouds blog when I am done here.
I didn't get to finish my house today as I got to tired. Katie's first day was pretty good considering she still is not quite sure where she's going! We both feel asleep when she got home! I will finish tomorrow and then the house will stay pretty clean with Kate being in school and Jake gone.
It's just when I let it go for so long that it gets out of hand!
I will go to Curves tomorrow. Haven't been there in a week!

Welcome back, my friend!
Well, not that you've really been gone, but I do feel like 'real life' has been taking you, Marcy, and myself away from the village quite a bit!
This was a great post! I'm so glad you had a good time with your husband home, and with family visits, thanks so much for posting the pictures of you and your family ~ beautiful!!

And I wish I had just a little of your 'cleaning bug', it's a chore I don't relish one bit.
And while I certainly don't enjoy vacuuming, I do it FULLY CLOTHED! But maybe if I reward myself with a cocktail afterwards I won't mind the chore so much anymore!
I'm glad you are looking forward to some alone time too! Much better than dreading it!

Love you, E

Hi Eileen,
I am so happy to be back! Katie is so tired from her first day of high school that she hasn't wanted the computer once! I have many projects planned for fall and winter and am looking forward to having the time to do them!
Email me when you have time Eileen.

I hope the 10 day leave did a world of good to his health! And I also hope that Katie didn't fall ill now that she has gone back to school.

I like to keep my room clean too. But then there are times I live in a complete mess and don't have the urge to move a muscle :)

Your grandchildren Diana are SO cute :D All the little one's for that matter are :) And you are looking very nice too without the spectacles :) (Is that a new haircut?! Suits you :) )

Diana said...

Hi Tranquility,
No my hair has actually grown out and I'm getting it cut this week! It takes too long to style so I have it cut shorter.
My husband had a nice time home but he isn't felling well right now. I think it's allergies but we're not sure yet. It seems that everytime he comes home he gets all stuffy and sneezy.
Katie is doing fine so far but she just started her full days yesterday. But I do believe she is feeling a bit intimidated at the new big school! Thank you for asking.
Love you, Di

Whoa nelly! I had to scroll so far down here that it was like going into a cave...good thing I've got the lights on!

Think you ought to consider the little French maid outfit before the naked dillyand I would also opt for Bailey's Irish Cream or sweet wine...you know the song, just a spoon full of wine helps the housework along, the housework alllooong...

It is harder to clean with hubby home, in fact, Michael will say to stop being Suzy Homemaker, so I have to tranform into Marcy the belly button tickler (he is VERY ticklish).

Do you think you might want to hit the delete button at the end of your post to get rid of all the extra and empty sapce (that's what I do) or is it good exercise for us to keep on scrolling...of course, it's also like a suspense novel where you're looking for what happens next...you could always do a big BOO at the bottom!

blessing and hugs,

marcy
