" Beautiful , Chilly , Sunday Morning "

Ah this is my kind of weather . I can't help but love the chilly air. It gives me energy and makes my thoughts move to evening fires, the smell of burning leaves and all of the indoor winter projects that I will son be tackling.Which reminds me of the denim quilt that I have promised to make for Katie. I really didn't think she would want one but she is asking everyday now when I plan on starting it ! So I guess I am going to have to get busy cutting out squares .

I won't start it today as it is going to be a trip to Wal-Mart and a laundry day! Katie and I went to Saturday evening service last night so that we could get to Wal-Mart before the church crowd descends upon the store this morning ! So I will wake her soon so we can go!

I don't often mention our church services in my blog as I feel that my faith and spirituality is very personal to me. But we sang a hymn last night which we have sung before , only this time one of the verses spoke to me. It really stuck in my head and gave me comfort. The hymn is called " By Grace I'm Saved ". The following is the verse that spoke volumes to me and turned on a little light in my cobweb filled brain.

5. By Grace! On this I'll rest wh
en dying;
In Jesus' promise I
rejoice;
For though I know my hearts condition,
I also know my savior's voice.
My heart is glad, all grief has flown
since I am saved by grace alone.

What beautiful words ! And there are many more but these sp
oke to me last night.
Alright enough of my spiritual awareness talk !

And now I have a couple of photos for your viewing pleasure ! Well maybe they are just for my viewing pleasure ! The first one is of baby Jack , self explanatory ! I took this picture of baby Jack ( I wonder if I'll still be calling him that when he's 17 !) last Friday while we were having dinner at my son's house. I really wanted to get a photo of my granddaughter Sarah , but she was off playing with her friend Lillian and as I stated in a previous post , I was just lucky that I was able to get two hugs that evening!

The next photo ladies and gents is of Katie and a few of her friends at the football game Friday night. Unfortunately the Mt. Vernon Rams were beaten severely! This is a small peek at the high school graduating class of 2013 ! This makes me feel old ! Katie is the fourth one from the left.

This next photo I just couldn't resist posting as it was us girls getting ready to pose for a previous photo that I had posted in another post. We were feeling a little silly !
From left to right , Mom , me , Katie , Daughter-in-law Amy and down in the center , Sarah. I think this photo might be better then the original !

I have been having some knee issues lately so I have Katie running up and down stairs doing laundry for me today. It's nice sitting here with me feet up while someone else does the slaving!

The rest of my Sunday is going to be spent relaxing as I need to rest this old knee. I am enjoying the chilly air in my house .
I think I will have to go and dig out my comfy , cozy, and warm slippers !
I hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

Nice post! I enjoyed this a lot, Di! What did you go to Wal Mart for, anything special?

I'm glad Katie is being so helpful to you with the wash, that's sweet.
And I loved all your pictures, and I agree I like the candid picture too! And Jack is just the most adorable little guy! He's got the cutest little face! I love him!

And I'm glad you found so much comfort in that Hymn. Sometimes it's like that for me too, a prayer or a song just speaks to your heart and it's like a little Gift from Heaven. I love how God Comforts us in the most unexpected ways at times. And when this unexplainable peace comes over you in the midst of turmoil especially, you know it's God at work in your heart and in your life. It's just the most wonderful feeling of Complete Love.

Our weather is a little cooler today, and as much as I'm sad that I blinked and Summer was here and gone in a matter of weeks, I'm so looking forward to Fall, it really is my favorite time of year. Soon it will be time to cover the pool and the patio furniture. And then hopefully some trips upstate for hiking and viewing the leaves changing colors in the mountains! And apple picking and baking pies! I can't wait!
Thanks for getting me in the mood, Di! Now I'm almost anxious for Summer to be over!
Love you!, E

Hi Eileen,
Mostly we needed animal food and litter! Katie needed a cami and we found two. Jack is a cutie Thanks, he is into throwing trash in the garbage now! Remember that stage? Frank and Amy think that that's where one of their cordless phones ended up!

I think this summer was really short at least it felt like it to me too! But I do love the fall. I only wish it lasted all winter! I can dream! Love you too, Di

Hi Diana...I feel Autumn is special too...summer just slides in after spring and usually too hot and humid to enjoy as much as you imagined you would all winter.

I love the feel in the air today...breezy and cool...even some birds are gathering in the tree tops.

Your Baby Jack and Eileen's Jayden are "So" cute....they are the future version of Brad Pitt and George Clooney!

Smiles Diana,
Wanda

Whew...think I made it with time to spare today!

All of your pictures were very cute and the candid one is special because it was so candid!

Baby Jack is just too pretty! but now you need to check the garbage frequently or at least before you leave to go somewhere!

Katie looks so happy in that football(?) picture.

Those verses you shared touched my heart too, so beautiful and so true...it really brings home the saying that singing is praying twice!

By the way, you look great on top of the washing machine...think I'll try for that look!

blessings and happy hugs,

marcy

Hi Wanda,
I heard that it's supposed to be in the 40's at night all next week. Great sleeping weather! To bad fall couldn't take the place of winter too!
I can see a future George Cloony and Brad Pitt there myself!
Love Di

Well Marcy what have you been doing! And are you ever going to tell us what when on for your birthday? Yes I am being nosy!

We were keeping a very close eye on baby Jack every time he went to the garbage can! Frank says he's in the habit of looking in the can as he throws things away to make sure there's nothing else in there that shouldn't be.

Katie has fun whenever she's with her friends and yes it was football! She just goes to be with her friends not to watch the game!

Hi Di,
Glad it's finally cooled off in your part of the world. I'm in Denver for the weekend, and it's finally cooler here, too. We have the slider open and there is a nice breeze blowing. Of course, in the mountains, it's heading nonstop into fall. I love the picture of your family caught unaware. Sometimes a picture IS worth a thousand words! I call my Jack "Jackie." He's a bruiser of a little boy (soon to turn 5). However, he was my most cuddly Grandchild as a baby, so the diminutive sticks. Rest that knee - how nice that Katie is doing laundry.

I can see the love that you all share! Such beautiful people... a beautiful family...adorable children!
Thanks for stopping by, that was Rachael's first post-ever... Maybe she'll get addicted like her mother ;o)
All the best, always ~ Maria

Di....I'm soooo jealous....the cool weather you are having...sigh.
It's hot as blazes down here...the A.C. is running overtime...as a matter of fact, I don't remember a winter day this past year....and I live in south Ga...imagine what FL is feeling.
It sounds like you had a great day, and I am so happy.
You are a sweet friend....very sweet.
Smiles from Jackie

I love this weather, also! It's definitely football weather - and DOES give one energy! I'm sorry about your knee pain. I know from personal experience how this can "ground" you. That's the way! Let Katie do the steps! And what a comfortable position you found for yourself on the washing machine! Way to go!

I enjoyed the hymn. It was a new one to me. So reassuring. And my philosophy is that precisely BECAUSE your faith is so personal it should be shared. We who have grown to appreciate you will appreciate your expression of faith as well.

We blog about a lot of other very personal stuff! Why not the thing we say is so important to us???

Baby Jack! Cute, cute, cute!

Your little Jack is adorable and I loved the last picture. It reminds me of when my 19 yr old grandaughter helps me !

Hi Barb,
Aren't we fortunate for this cool weather! Winter doesn't bother me either unless I have to drive when it's icy! I try to avoid that. I seem to feel much more creative when it's cooler. Neat that you have a Jack too! Katie has been helping all day , thank God!

Hi Maria,
I loved Rachaels post and you should encourage her to do more. Maybe if she designed her own blog she might get the bug! Let me know if she does, I will follow her!

Hi Jackie,
Funny most times I wish I lived further north as it seems too hot in Southern Illinois for me! I hope it starts to cool off some for you soon. The weather here is absolutely perfect today! I'd share with you if I could! Love Di

Hi Rebecca,
The knee thing is my fault really as I keep putting off going to the Dr. They wanted to give me shots in it over a year ago but I was too scared I guess. It's gotten way worse and now my husband is really pushing me to go so I guess I'll call them this week, Blah!!! I hate going! Love Di

Hi Ginnie,
Thank you for admiring baby Jack with me! He is as sweet as he is cute but boy is he a climber!

Katie has been a big help today, tomorrow may be a whole different story! Love Di

Hi Di, loved this post...I look at Grace this way...it's 100% and I find if I work hard on an issue I measure it by Grace, I know when I'm at 30%, 46% and then when I get to 50% something happens, Grace takes over and takes me the rest of the way...100%, something like balancing a butter knife on your finger, when it is perfectly balanced I know I have worked out my half....I know it's corny but it's just me...and keeps me working towards my 50%
Loved the natural family photo, Katie is sweet and her helping you with laundry is a gift you can use right now, good luck with the shots, you know they do help, it's just getting them that hurts.
Oh Jack is so cute....and looks so happy almost wish you could keep them that small and I remember "everything going in the trash stage" always had to check it before it went out.
Take care of yourself......and rest that knee.......:-) Hugs

Hi Diana-

Great post with wonderful pictures. And it is cooling off here in CT as well. Alleluia!!
I am glad for you that the hymn was comforting - we watched our wedding video today and I love "Let There Be Peace On Earth"
Glad you had a lovely Sunday.

I've often felt this too. God speaks to us. It's like it is invisible to the rest of us, but is meant only for our eyes and ears :-) Spirituality really gives peace and takes away all our pains!

I admire your grandson's pictures, like Wanda's granddaughter, your grandson looks like an adorable angel :)

Fun Post! but Fall? what is Fall like? It has been a long time since I have seen Fall in the Fall. It is still in the 100's here and I am ready for a change! I just hope that it doesn't change over night. Maybe 10 or 15 degrees so that I can acclimatize! The wild fires are out of control here in Southern Utah. It is a real shame....but nature needs to do its thing I guess. Lightening strikes once again....
