" Day Two, More Alone Time "

This is ridiculous. I feel like I should be whispering. I feel as if I am doing something wrong. Every year for the past 31 years I've had to wake up one or more of my three children for school. Cook breakfast. Make sure everyone arrived to school on time with all of the proper supplies. Not so this year.

My last child at home is a freshman now. She is impressing me. She is waking on her own. Fixing a small breakfast ( She's not very hungry in the morning.) getting herself together and off she goes to school. Wow. What to do, what to do ?

I will get myself together after she leaves and run some errands. I also must go and work out. My husband has left again for work and I won't see him for two weeks. So I have no excuse to not exercise! Yes I must get off of this chair and move! But it's just so nice not to have to. Katie even brought me a third cuppa Joe! Wait a minute here. Am I in the right house. Am I awake ? It's all so confusing. I'm used to being the one that does everything in the morning. Who's life is this ?

Perhaps our Lord has decided that I can slow down a bit now. Maybe that's it . It's not like I don't have anything to do. I need to go to the library, post office, Curves and I do have work to do at church. But all of these things can be done any day of the week that I choose. I also want to start a quilt for Katie. And I have two painting projects and several crochet projects that I can start at any time. But for this short period of time this morning, I think I will just sit and relax with that third cuppa Joe my Katie brought me!

This is a bit difficult for me to get used to. I am not complaining. I am just feeling a bit lost. Since my two strokes, my doctor has urged me to slow down. So slow down is what I will try to do. It's just a very odd feeling being able to just sit here in the morning. But I think that I can get used to it!

Hey Diana! Take it easy. Suddenly after being so busy when you've nothing to do, it does feel odd. I'm feeling just the same! (Though I haven't had to do what you've been doing for 31 years!! I haven't even lived that long, come to think of it :D) But within no time you'll get used to it! Diana, take it easy with the crocheting! It shouldn't give you any problems.. And yes exercise is good. Just half an hour a day and you're good to go. Do eat well and take wonderful care of yourself :)

Hi Tranquility!
I ran all of my errands and then worked out so I'm good! You are right it is going to take some time getting used to the changes.
How is your job going? I hope you are getting used to your changes too. You will have to catch us up!
Love Di

Soak it all up Diana! Take JOY in the receiving.
As mothers we give, give and give... most of the time with all our heart!
It's also blessed to let others have the opportunity to give ...
Give their time, love and more coffee too!
Enjoy all your moments ~ Maria

A little relaxation is good for the sole. Never feel guilty. You've served your family well for 31 years and now it's time for YOU. Take care of yourself and do the things you love the most (even if it involves the family :) ) I envy that you have this time. I only wish I didn't have to work full time so that I could take some of my own advice!

Hi Maria,
I am enjoying things right now. I know that there will be another meltdown eventually! My mornings not being so hectic is a good thing because I'm not nearly as fast as I used to be!

Hi Terrie,
Actually I wish that I could work more than I do but I just can't last eight hours straight anymore.
But really if I did work full time I couldn't keep up with everything else and with Jake gone all the time there is a lot to keep up with! Love Di

Ya hoo! It worked and I am not scrolling down down down...of course, I may end up with fat fingers now.

Good to hear you can let yourself chill...you deserve it!

The exercise is so important, so You are doing all the right things and i do like the idea that you are continuing to crochet as I am STILL trying to sweet talk you into some little crochet giveaway someday.

Even though I can crochet myself, there is something so special about someone else doing it and I think it means more than ever before because I don't have but one thing that my mother crocheted any more! That makes me feel so bad.

I even had an aunt who crocheted the most beautiful pot holders and she could turn them out like crazy but I was young and foolish and all I have is one left and no idea what pattern she used.

Take real good care of yourself honey pot.

blessings and huggy hugs,

marcy

Oh, Di, I think you will get used to doing nothing very fast!
My sister-in-law and I say that all the time, we are so happy when we have nothing to do! And we never get bored! There's ALWAYS something to do, Di ~ pray, read a book, watch a movie, clean out a closet or a drawer (or more!), do a little shopping, write a letter, do bills, throw in a load of wash, change linens, BLOG!, wash the knickknacks, wash the windows, gardening/yard work, tackle a big house project, tackle a small house project, the list is endless! If ever you get bored, either check out my list, or put your feet up and enjoy being wit you all by yourself with a cup of iced or hot coffee (or maybe an ice cold beer!) or email your friend Eileen! She loves hearing from you!

Thanks for your friendship, Di.
Take care and learn to RELAX, you're going to love it!
Love you, E

Howdy Marcy,
Yup thanx 2 u it worked! Sorry Katie was texting and I got confused again. Yes I have still been crocheting I just can't do it for hours like I used to. Which is actually good because then I might put that 40 lbs. back on! All I have to do Marcy is get shots again but I just keep putting it off. That would hold me over for a couple of months. But Katie needs an eye exam first so it can wait a little longer!

Oh my gosh Eileen how did you know all of those things that I do everyday? It's like you can read my mind! Trust me I am rarely bored, well once in a while! I was just going to get up and do some things around here when I saw your comment! BTW I had 3 beers last night while watching the Woodstock special on the History channel! Katie was filled with questions about that! I used to have the album but don't know what happened to it.
More Later, Love Di

Hi DIana-

Youare in a time of transition - flow with it as best you can. ~~~~~

I do understand as I transition to disability retirement - a dew years ahead of myself. But it is what it is. ANd you WILL adjust, and find great joy in your down time and new purpose in your life. Stay open to every possibility.

Love to you
Gail

Hi Gail,
Yes you are right. I have been thinking a lot this past year of what I will do when Katie leaves home. I am just going to leave that up to God. I'm just trying to follow my path. It is exciting in some ways as we don't know what to expect but can also be a little intimidating. I admire you for your attitude Gail.
Love and Peace to you, Di

Hi Di, you sound wonderful. It will be 2 years in Sept. since I retired. I had worked since I was 12 years old and in the beginning I was lost. It took me a good year to adjust to the change but now I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't think I could even find time to work if I wanted too. Always something to do but the key here is we have a choice when we want to do it. I love it Di. You still have a few years until Katie finishes school so you can ease yourself into it.
Take care my friend....:-) Hugs

Crudders! Marcy's moved off our 'Followers' pictures! And you're next to go off mine!
I'm just going to have to put pictures of you girls on my sidebar!

Hi Bernie,
I do have many things in mind for when the day comes. Of coarse Katie could be one of those people that lives at home forever! I doubt it though. I know that I will miss her probably worse than the other two, still I look forward to it at the same time.

Eileen what has gone wrong! Have you gotten so many followers that some of us are disappearing? Maybe we can refollow ( Is that even a word?) and then we could be at the top again! Love Di

Crudders? I've never heard of crudders.

Procrastination is a learned skill. But I do believe your getting there.
Slowing down is always hard for go go people. But for you it is a good thing.
Not to sure how good all that coffee is though.
Thanksfor the comments on my blog.

Thanks for visiting Dr. John and I am trying very hard to learn the art of procrastination! Not easy for me though. Not to worry, I only drink three cups a day!

Hi Di,
You can and you WILL get used to your new free time! Take it from a Free Time pro...it's a wonderful new chapter of your life. After you've given so much of yourself, Di, it's wonderful that you are now able to receive the gifts of caring from others. ENJOY!
