Wow I haven't Blogged in so, so long. I don't even know where to begin!!
I must say that I don't even remember how to do it at this point so it may seem a bit random.
So here goes.

I love my job. I am considered a Dementia Care Specialist. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected to be where I am today. I've had many small jobs, raised a family of three. All I ever wanted to do was to be a housewife and mother. I achieved that and more. I am a grandmother now as well. This is what I thought my life would always be.

One year ago I took my Certified Nursing Assistant  class and exam . I hadn't planned this at all. I was just trying to give my youngest some moral support at the time. She dropped out of class after two days and I stayed on and LOVED it.

I passed every test with an "A". I am very proud of that being that I was 55 years old at the time.  What a trip people. Doing something that spur of the moment that you've never thought of doing before.

Alzheimer's/Dementia is my specialty. I love it. So challenging, and mostly rewarding. For now I am very happy with my choice however I have been considering Hospice work.

Hello, sweet friend.
How wonderful to see your blog post this evening.
I had NO doubts that you would be the best caregiver in the world. You have that kind of heart, and I am so proud of you.
My mother-in-law passed away with Alzheimer's. It was the longest goodbye. She died in 2004. Those who work with and care for Alzheimer's patients are angels walking, in my opinion. Hospice is a wonderful organization as well.
I send hugs and love to you, Di.

Hi!
Glad to see you back I have been working with alzheimer people in college and also with family members
It is nice work and you can enjoy it with people who need a kind hand and word and attention.
The only thing different between old people and young people is that they pass away and you lose people who become quite meaningful to you
Glad you are enjoying..

How wonderful! And, it's so good to see you here. We are off the ship for a meeting so I'm able to log in. We'll be back on board soon where I have limited internet access - can get email, but not enough bandwidth to download pictures and blogs.

Hugs from Coconut Grove!

I am glad it all worked out for you.
I worked with old people too and they are for the most part a delight. I had a phone call from one old lady who was so sweet. She had no idea who she was talking to.
We chatted and then said good bye.
I thought.... I hope it was not a long distance call.lol
