" Retro Weekend "

Well I didn't think I'd make it back for Retro Weekend as I was very busy wallowing in self pity! The self pity party is gone although I still can't get around very well.

So I am back to bore everyone as much as I have been bored these past few day from sitting and sitting. I did however pick up needle and yarn and started a new afghan. Weather or not I finish it, we shall see.

Much bike riding daydreams have passed through my thoughts with the beautiful spring like weather we have been having. Oh well, hopefully the ankle will heal quickly. So now on with the show!

Can you guess which decade this photo was taken in? A couple of hints.... Michael Jackson's wardrobe was in style at the time. This brother and sister were seven and four at the time. It is my son Frank and his sister Ginny. 1985 was the year.

I couldn't leave without posting a photo of a young Katie. Maybe not quite as retro as the last photo. Katie was six years old and is wearing a witches costume that I had made for her. It had a beautiful purple slip that I made underneath the dress. I remember it being the first costume that I had made as a beginner. I was so proud of how it came out and was hooked on sewing after that.

Katie was a sweet little thing back then! She's 15 now. Self explanatory!

If you can't ride the bike, just scan photos Di. This is a sweet one of Frank and Ginny holding hands and Katie is cute, even though she is probably trying to look scary.
The plates in the rack on the wall look interesting, I think I can see Indians and trees. Right?
Rest that ankle Di!

Hi Wanda,
Yes the plates are of Indians, they have hidden pictures in them. Very interesting. We got tired of them and they are packed away now. The ankle is healing slowly. I am bored!!!

Hi Maria,
I forgot to set my bedroom clock last night and thought that I got up earlier than I did! Hopefully it won't take too long to adjust!

Your pictures are so sweet! I love them both.
You really did a wonderful job with Katie's costume, and I love how you have your mantle decorated in the background. It was the perfect backdrop for her!
I'm enjoying the old photos, it's like paging through a family album with you and listening to you reminisce. Now all I need is a cup of coffee.

Rest up, feel better, and heal!
Love to you,
Eileen
PS ~ Glad you're getting some nice weather, we had a Nor'easter here this weekend and more rain today. :(

Somehow, this post didn't end up on my dashboard. I just came by to see how you were feeling. I see you're taking a trip down memory lane! My kids shudder at the clothes I bought for them in the 70's - I tell them they were in style back then...

Good to see your sense of humor in posting these photos and sharing the stories behind them. (Course your sense of humor was even there in the "poor,Poor pitful Me" post, too!)

I went to visit a friend recovering from back surgery today. I don't think she's even THINKING about riding a bike for quite some time yet! Hopefully you WILL be pedaling all over the place in a few days!

Hope you ankle is healing. Been reading thru your blog trying to play "catch-up." Love the new profile photo as well as your retro-photos. Isn't it amazing how just yesterday Katie was trick or treating and now she is driving?! Thank goodness she was able to drive you to the ER. There are good points to having your baby girl grow up!!! :-)
More nice weather is on the way - just for you and your bike!

That first one looks like when our kids were little. Especially the dress. I think my daughter had several that looked just like that.
