" What A Weekend ! "

I guess it started on Friday for me. Jake couldn't make it home until Saturday but it worked out for me as it gave me extra time to finish things up around the house. Katie, as usual spent the night at her friends so I got the house cleaned, baked a cake for Jake's birthday, chopped lots of vegetables for our dinner Saturday night and worked on one of Jake's gifts.

One of his gifts was a new wallet so I printed up some new photos, cut them to size and filled the wallet with them. I also got the gifts wrapped.

As we have been preparing the living room for the redo, I have had everything stacked in the dining room so I moved it all into the spare bedroom. I thought it would be nice to have a table to sit at for dinner!

Jake got home around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, came home for a bit and then we went for his eye exam at 1:00 p.m. We got home around 2:30 and everyone was due to arrive at about 3:30. In the meantime Kate came home with her friend, I started dinner and added an extra plate!

Once the kids came over all the fun started. Sarah brought a friend so I added an extra plate.

Jake and Frank started tearing into those radiators. Loud saw blades, two 15 year old's, two 7 year old's and a 1 and 1/2 year old, add two barking dogs to the mix and you have a bit of chaos but a lot of fun!

Don't worry baby Jack got to go out and play too!

As busy as we were, we couldn't say no to those baby blue's!

It took Jake and Frank longer then they thought to get those heavy monsters out of the house, and I know there were a few strained muscles, sorry guys....

But I was so tickled to get those things out of the house that I felt like dancing on the spots where they were! After 11 years they were finally gone and I can actually move the furniture where I want.
And I can put the Christmas tree in front of the window, something I have always wanted to do.
Now that the work was done it was time to eat. Thank goodness as by now the kids were starving! Jake originally wanted meatloaf but changed his mind at the last minute. He wanted homemade Mac and Cheese with hamburger and bacon added to it. I also cook a bit of onion in it. This dish is not healthy at all folks, but it is so good!

I also made a Greek salad, corn on the cob and Cheesy Asiago bread.
After which we had cake of coarse!

If my husband appears tired looking in this photo it is because it got up at 1:30 a.m. so that he could make it home in time for his eye appointment! Despite all the hard work though, he thoroughly enjoyed his party.
And even with all of the kids running around, Amy and I got to visit which we don't get to do as often as we'd like!

Jake sneaked in this photo! At one point while I was cooking there were five kids in the kitchen with me, I had to shoo them all off as my kitchen is the tiniest room in the house! I didn't want any accidents around the stove.
After everyone left, Katie and her friend went down the street to the old theater for their very first concert. Jake told them to be home by ten and they got home at 9:30! Good girls! They had a great time and Jake and I were able to go to sleep, finally!

Sunday morning Jake and I got up early and went out for breakfast. We had a bit of time to kill before the restaurant opened so we decided to wander around Wal-mart at 7:30a.m. Aren't we the exciting pair!
Well I have to tell you what I did there. O.K. remember the whole dream bike thing? Well guess what happened? I went on line to order it and it was gone! I was sooooo disappointed. We searched other web sites and apparently it was a one time special.

So while I was at Wal-Mart I looked at what they had. There were two bikes that I liked. On was very retro looking. The other was a cruiser but a bit more updated.

I figured that the best way to know which one would be a good fit would be to just ride them. And so I did. Both of them. Three times each. All around the store as my husband stood there shaking his head at me. Don't worry there was no " Cleanup in aisle 6." being called out! I really liked the way the retro one looked but as it turned out the other bike was a much better fit. It was much lighter in weight and handled much better so.......

I have been riding it already. I was a little wobbly at first but it all came back to me and it was so fun! I must admit that it will take me some time to work up more stamina but I am just loving it! And it doesn't hurt my knees at all. The basket was a very special gift from a very special friend!

After all of the excitement it was time for Jake to put the new faucet on the kitchen sink. It is a tough job under that old sink cabinet but with just a few tools and some words I won't repeat, he got that task done and the new non leaking faucet is beautiful!

We didn't get any painting done. We were both just too tired and sore! We've waited this long so we can wait a little longer.

I am off to bed early tonight. It's been a fun and busy weekend.

Goodnight All!

HI DIANA

You look great on your bike!!! :-)

And wow, quite a weekend, I am tired just reading about it. I loved, loved the picture of Jack and the dog at the door. Made me smile wide!! :-)

ANd that mac/cheese/bacon casserole sounded SO good. And that is why it is unhealthy because it has all the stuff that makes it so yummy. mmmmmmmm

ANd what did I notice right away? The cigarettes on the table, Marlboro lights, right? I focused right in - I quit smoking but I am always drawn to a smoke!! oh well.

Love you
Gail
peace......

p.s. Jake is really good lookin' eehah!!!

Hi Di,
Wow! What an action packed weekend! Makes me tired just thinking about it...but then I have been pretty exhausted lately anyway, (but all the family and fun, makes it all worth while right!!!)

I love your new bike...does Katie have one too? You could go on adventures together...

It is still way to early for a bike here, but I don't think it will be long, we have had such Springlike weather. Looks like you have no snow left at all.

Good for you! And your mac and cheese sounded so yummy!! Happy Birthday to Jake too!

You have a beautiful family!!!

Oh, as far as drinking Diet Soda's, I think that everything done in moderation is good, however, I drink way too much Diet soda, and have been doing this for many years. When I watched a documentary on it, I had this strange feeling in the pit of my stomach that my thyroid problem, and my consumption of Diet drinks, are related...they both began around the same time. Also now that I have cut back on eating 'gluten', my skin problem has completely cleared up. I think a lot of health problems happen because of 'processed foods' and 'artificial' this and that.
This week, I did have a couple of regular sodas, but no aspartame, and I drank a lot of water, tea, and coffee (I know caffiene is bad for you too, but I just am not ready to give it up!)

Have fun riding your bike!
((((HUGS)))) TT

As always, it was fun reading your post! Did you and Amy purposely match each other??

Re-doing and painting makes such a difference but what work! We need to repaint around here but I keep wiggling my nose hoping that will do the trick!

Your dinner sounds wonderful. It's a good thing you make plenty because you had some surprise visitors!

Love seeing Ruby and Jack looking out the window together...so cute!!

blessings and hugs,

marcy

p.s. Also so happy that you can ride the bike without pain as that is great exercise!

I read THIS a-f-t-e-r the later post about the sore/swollen ankle. NOW I think I know why your ankle acted up!

But what a great weekend! I'm really glad you got your bike! Do you remember mine from last summer (husband painted it light celery green and purple for me????). I have a basket kind of like yours, too! You've inspired me to get it out NOW!
