Welcome to " Part 2 " of
" Best Laid Plans "
Today we find our "Housewifely Heroine"
Diana,
feeling much better from her mysterious illness. After a long weekend of rest and a movie marathon, her symptoms have all but disappeared except for feeling a bit run down.
This morning we find her sitting in her garden under her favorite and only Maple tree enjoying the beautiful Autumn breezes.
As you can see she is looking much better.....
Although you may not notice it in this photo as she is wearing make-up, she has a secret. A secret that she thought no one else had noticed. A secret that she confided to no one except for her oldest daughter,
Ginny.
Diana knew that she could trust Ginny with any secret including
"The eyebrow secret" !
It was something that Diana had started to notice for quite some time now. She foolishly thought that no one but her could see it until that one evening. The evening that she and her handsome husband...
had time to spend alone. She was needlessly, a bit embarrassed when he asked her "Darling, what on Earth have you done to your lovely, lush brows?", to which she replied
" What do you mean dearest?".
"Well Dear, it looks as though you may have went a bit crazy with your tweezing implement." he said.
After a brief wave of dread swept over her, she realized that since he loved her unconditionally, she must confess her secret to him.
As it turns out, our "Housewifely Heroine" had noticed for some time that from her "Point of Arch" to her "End Brow", the hair had been slowly yet steadily disappearing.
"Hair Loss!"
She had thought that she could slip by with the secret going unnoticed and thought perhaps she may have to start penciling in her brows!
She tried it once and thought how unnatural it looked. She had thought of the tattoo route briefly but disregarded it quickly as she thought how silly it would look once she turned completely gray.
So it would be back to the "Drawing Board", so to speak, if she wanted to have any brows at all.
In the meantime her very handsome husband....
still has not been feeling so well himself as he slaves away to keep a roof over his families head.
This wonderful, hard working, hunk of a man has, as of late, felt much older than his 48 years!
Diana is ever so anxious for him to come home this weekend so she can take care of him in a proper manner since she is feeling better now herself.
She suspects that he didn't have enough antibiotics to destroy the strange bug that had invaded their bodies.
There was never any word from the handsome doctor....
about the chest ex-ray results...
So Diana is assuming that the old adage "No news is good news" applies here.
As our "Housewifely Heroine" sits peacefully in her garden this morning she can't help but think about the new friend she had made this summer, "Mr. Toad".
She came across Mr. Toad quite surprisingly one morning while gardening. She was digging a hole for a flower when all of a sudden he popped out of the ground to greet her.
They became good friends after that. He would greet her every time she would garden and he would always let her pet him.
She even went so far as to build him a little toad friendly retreat to which he seemed to enjoy. He would hop off every now and then but he always returned.
That is until one day in late July. She had noticed that his absences were becoming longer and longer. "Maybe he has a family in another spot" she thought to herself.
Little did she know that as he hopped out and away from her garden that day......
It would be the last time she would see him ever again. It was with a heavy heart that she hoped he was safe and didn't meet his demise with some gas powered lawn implement!
But life goes on.
And as summer came to an end it was time for school to start once again. This would mark her last child's second year of high school. Diana realizes how swiftly time is going by just by seeing her young teenage daughter turning into a lovely yet sometimes trying,
young woman.
And although Diana realizes that the inevitable "Empty Nest" was just around the corner, it is not a day that she looks forward to.
So she has been enjoying the moments that she has been having with her daughter Katie. She can see the changes in her. And Diana has been actually happy about her and her best friend coming home everyday for lunch.
Ah yes, one can clearly see the " I am cool and know everything " attitude here. Yet still her mother is seeing the changes. The changes that make a parent proud.
Her youngest daughter will turn sixteen in three months.
Diana remembers turning sixteen. Feeling cool. Knowing everything. Having eyebrows.
Oh what a feeling that was.
Diana felt awful last week as the girls settled for.....
Pizza rolls all week for their lunch. But they didn't complain and Diana has been able to fix them lunch once again.
Things are almost back to normal now. For the moment. It's quite.
A momentary quite that Diana is very grateful for.
As a matter of fact, things are so quite that she fears she may have no more material for another episode of
"Best Laid Plans"!
Except,
What about "Homecoming" ?
We will leave you now with an actual photo of the "REAL" Diana.
You see she is just like everyone one else. Not glamorous at all.
Just a real life housewife with tiny fading little eyebrows!
Notice if you will, that she has cleverly camouflaged them with her hair!
But it IS ever so fun to dream.
And in Diana's dream, she most definitely would look like
this....
Great brows!!!

Oh, my dear! I'm so fortunate that my eyesight failed at about the same pace that my eyebrows thinned. Therefore, it really poses no problem to me--"Out of sight; out of mind" I say to myself frequently.
It was good to get a peek at you all! Hoping your health & Jake's continues to improve and that neither of you regress.
Keep spinning the sagas! My life is never quite exciting enough by itself :)
Our doctor lets it be know that no problem = no call. Only expect a call if something seems to be amiss. naturally, we hope she never calls.
Hi Rebecca!
We are both looking forward to feeling ourselves again. I hope that is it for the year!
Perhaps I should make up some stuff for the soap. My life is pretty boring too!
Thank you, I am glad I'm not the only one with fading brows!
Love Di ♥
Hi AC,
Our doctor never calls when the news is good either. I understand that it would be time consuming for them. However, my husband feels that as much money as the tests cost, the least they could do is call. Love Di ♥
Oh, Di! You have this way of making me smile!! I loved this!!
Warmest hugs my dear "Housewifely Heroine"!!!
Hi Lena,
Thank you so much! It's so nice to see you back here again!
Love Di ♥
Around 50 or so, I noticed the eyebrow change too, Di! With me it was a lightening of color as well as thinning, at least we have photos to remember them by. Mine showed up well, back in my senior photos! High school senior...not senior years!
Oh Wanda, you and Rebecca are so wonderful! I don't feel so alone in my loss of brow hair now! I am going to experiment with coloring. Markers or pens?
Love Di ♥
Diane, you need to be tested for hashimotos. It is an auto-immune disease. Make sure to have your doctor check!
Hi Jenny,
I'm not too worried about Hashimoto's. I don't get sick that often and am feeling much better today! Actually I am feeling almost my crazy self again! Thanks for caring. Hugs, Love Di ♥
Oh, Di - only you could weave a story of illness, family, eyebrows, and frogs into a cohesive and hilarious whole. I'm so glad you're feeling better! Enjoy your brief respite of quiet.
Hi Barb,
Thanks so much! And I am doing just that, enjoying the MOMENTARY respite of quite!
Love Di ♥
You do know that Natalie is my all time favorite actress! I named my daughter after her! YEP I did. And I always dreamed of looking like her too. lol brows! It was the 70's thing to pluck pluck pluck and I had the most beautiful brows until I plucked them away to skinny nothings, now....the ole pencil..and yes the dreaded BANGS! for 4 days last weekend, I was completely NUDE with NO make-up and brows...it was GREAT! lol loved your "Best Laid Plans"! blog posts!
Hi Linda,
Yes I do remember that you loved Natalie Wood too! I always wanted to look like her too! And I love all of her movies. Isn't it funny how one day we are tweezing and then all of a sudden they stop growing?! I have to practice with some Sharpies!
Love Di ♥
Just checking back to see if I could post today...Hows the eyebrows? My sister had hers tatooed on and they look real but I did not think about what they would look like if she lets her hair go gray...I bet she didn't either. Maybe the will just re-tatoo in a gray color?
Hi Dee,
Let me know what your sister does when she goes gray! As for me I am going to try Sharpies! Only kidding! I need to get a lighter colored brow pencil to try.
Love Di ♥
Hi Diana! I read your amazing post last night but for some reason blogger wouldn't let me get anywhere with the comments... Every time I clicked, it took me back to the post...
Kind of like Mr. Toad hopping backwards!
... oh not only my eyebrows, but my legs too ~ which is a bonus! lots less shaving! yippee!
Your photos are so much fun! Hope you keep on the road to recovery, Diana!
~bless you~
Maria
Hi Maria,
I noticed the comment problem too. If anyone has anymore problems please email me. I have also noticed that I am not shaving as much. Yes, I like that part!
Thank you for stopping by and for keep on trying to comment Maria. I appreciate it!
Love Di ♥
Oh, Diana...I love these posts!!!! You are so brilliant...and you make me laugh and smile and nod all the way through your writing!!! I love you! And yes!!!! It is definitely fun to dream!!! But I think you are one of the beautiful people just as you are!!! Love you! Janine XO
Hi Janine,
It's so nice to see you back in blogland! The way I see it is if you can't laugh at life than what is the point! Thanks for stopping by! Love Di ♥
Hello Ms. Di! I love your quirkiness and you made me giggle. Okay, I laughed out loud! Thanks for the smile!
Hi Allie,
Thanks for stopping by. Glad I gave you a little laugh! Life is funny!
Love Di ♥
Di.... A blog that I always love to visit! You have the best outlook on life, Diana....and I KNOW that Mr. Toad will be back. He (she) will bring the toadettes with him/her....so, don't give up!!
Have you been told over and over how much Ginny and you look alike!??
Thank you for a lovely blog...You always make me smile!!
P.S. I have my eyebrows 'done'...but at my age, it's good to know that she can find them to 'do' them....Where do eyebrows go as one gets older? Do they go the same place as that sock in the dryer.... I can NEVER find that stooopid sock!
Hi Jackie,
I sure do hope you are right about Mr. Toad, it would tickle me to see him again next year!
As for the eyebrows, I don't know but I suspect that one day they just decided to not grow back!
Love Di ♥
I'm glad you can make light of your situation, and that's really the best way to deal with it rather than wallow in depression. I recall feeding my kid Totino's Pizza Rolls and other like things often. When I'd get home from work it was often the easiest route to take and it was something they could fix themselves. And they liked them.

Tossing It Out
Hi Arlee,
Yes the ever popular pizza rolls! You will almost always find a bag in my freezer!
Love Di ♥
Glad you and Hubby are on the mend Di. I liked how you told us your story on your doings. I kind of hope Mr Toad is OK as well.
Are the Pizza Rolls like the Pizza Pops. One says you can cook them in the microwave, I still use my oven.
It is uncanny how much Diana and Hubby resemble Natalie Wood and Burt Lancaster. I am still trying to figure out who the Doctor Resembles.
A wonderful weekend is wished for you.
Hi Bill!
The girls only cook the pizza rolls in the microwave which I think is horrible! We grew up cooking them in the oven, much better!
I can't remember the doctors name Bill, but he was on the television show "ER".
And yes I am very hopeful in seeing Mr. Toad next year!
Love Di ♥
Diana-- When you mentioned about always keeping a bag in the freezer I went downstairs and looked in my freezer. Sure enough there was an almost finish 90 count bag with a best buy date of 2007. I guess I'd gotten these before my youngest daughter left home and they've been there ever since (we don't keep a whole lot in our freezer since the kids left). I left them in there since after looking at what was in there I realized I will have another topic for one of my Tossing It Out Tuesday features.

Tossing It Out
Oh Arlee, I would definitely recommend "Tossing Out" those pizza rolls! Love Di ♥
Ah, my dear friend Diana, the eyebrow thing that affects us all. Yes, good way to hide them with the bangs, or perhaps some fancy glasses, but in the end, we just reshape them the way we want them and pencil in the color we prefer, don't we.
The best part of all is that those who love us don't really care how our eyebrows look. They just love us the way we are.
Big hugs,
Lois
My eyebrows are disappearing also, a sad state of affairs in deed. Each morning I artfully draw in the missing pieces. Giggle... Solidarity my blogging sister. Loved this post
Wishing you happiness, Katherine
Hi Lois,
I agree, I know my husband doesn't care! Love Di ♥
Hi Katie,
Thanks for visiting. I am going to go practice with a pencil right now!
Love Di ♥
Your "handsome husband" kindof reminds me of someone but if I thought "From Here to Eternity" I probably wouldn't be able to remember who !!
Hi Di
Great i loved it.. So how are you doing?
Take Care
Love
Sunshine
I had to 'google' you to get here! But I made it!
Now I'm going to visit our other friends through your sidebar, and collect everyone's addresses and try to re-do my sidebar. Ugh!
Anyway, X-ray results? Nothing yet?
'Hope you are feeling better. Growing older has it's good points and it's bad points. Ray and I were just talking about how we get shocked at ourselves that we can't do as much as we used to do, nor is it anywhere as 'easy' as it used to be when we try anything that requires using muscles! Oh the aches and pains!
I think your eyebrows look lovely, and I think in your younger years you did look very much like Natalie Wood in her younger days. She's a favorite of mine too, along with Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe.
I used to have horribly thick, bushy eyebrows, so I'm happy that they are thinning now.
Cute, cute post, but so sorry to read in previous posts that you and Jake were both so sick! And so happy to read about your sweet doctor! That helps a lot!
I've missed you lots, but I think of you often and my 'blog' family is always in my prayers.
Lots of crazy things going on in my family, so I'm kind of all over the place, but I hope to blog more regularly now, or at least 'visit' more often anyway!
Love you!, E
PS ~ You lost your little toad friend but gained a crazy wire-eating squirrel??? Not good!
PS ~ I have a little 'brow pot' with a soft brown cream that you apply with a brush, and then the other half of the pot has a brown powder you apply over that. And then I actually have eyebrows again! But I only use it for 'special' occasions, for everyday I hope my bangs cover them!
Just checking in to see what you're up to!!! Hope your week has been going well!! Sending you much love! Janine XO
