"Welcoming the Weekend"

Since I'm not posting about anything specific today I found a few photos of my dogs, Ruby and Roxy, that I thought I'd throw in here and there.

Are you all ready for the weekend? I sure am. Lets hear it for the weekend! May it be filled with sunshine for everyone!

Roxy is on the left, Ruby on the right.
Believe it or not, Ruby was snoring when I took this. This is how they nap on my lap. They get all warm and cozy. Then I get all warm and cozy. Before you know it we're all snoring away!

I finally have almost my entire house clean. This I did after I cleaned house for my people. For those of you who are new here, I clean a house for one of our church families every Thursday.

Now usually I am very worn out after I clean their house. But since getting all of the shots in my knees, I am able to do more. So I came home and cleaned some more.

As I was cleaning my peoples house today I thought about how much I love doing this job. I don't get paid a fortune and we could live without the extra cash, but I really love doing this. I can't really even say why except that it gives me great satisfaction when I am done. And I feel proud. This probably sounds silly to some. It is menial work after all. Yet still, I love doing it.

I did have to quit once after I had my second stroke. I didn't want to but I needed to get myself back together and didn't really know at that time what I would be capable of doing anymore.

Several months later (after the doctor and hospital bills started rolling in) I ran into the woman that I cleaned for and we struck up a conversation. I asked her if she had anyone cleaning for her and she said that they didn't want anyone else after me.

Wow, that was really nice. I was feeling much better by then and asked if they might want me to come back. She said yes and here we are today. That was over a year ago now and I've been cleaning for them for several years all together. Funny, I never tire of this job.

So not only is her house clean but mine is too. All ready for the family to mess up again so we can start all over again next week!

It's all good though as I am so looking forward to being with my husband. And Katie for that matter. She has been very nice lately and sad at the same time. She doesn't want school to end and today was her last full day.

My husband and Kate are going to go out for lunch together Saturday. A little father/daughter alone time. This was my idea by the way. I insisted! It seems sad to me that as girls get older they sometimes grow away from there daddy's. Katie was a big daddy's girl. But with him gone all the time and her interests changing, I just thought it would be a good idea.

I am hoping to get the huge mirror hung this weekend. If it gets hung I will be able to post the final pictures of the living room redo. However I will not hold my breath over this as every time I think it may get hung it hasn't. No one is to blame here, just bad timing you know?

I have a delicious dinner planned for this weekend. I am trying out a new potato recipe (I don't know whats come over me!) and I have a beautiful beef roast that I bought to cook for when Jake came home.

I should plan a dessert. I'll have to look through those new cookbooks that I bought at the library.

I am rambling again I know. Nothing exciting has been going on around here. That can actually be a blessing, don't you think?

I am looking forward to the season finale of  "Grey's Anatomy" tonight. That is about the last of the shows I watch until fall except for "Nurse Jackie" and "Mad Men".

The rest of the summer will most likely be spent outside trying to keep up with those weeds! And looking up at my Maple tree. I love the view staring straight up at it from my chair.

I will be stopping by to read your blogs through the weekend here and there but I won't be back until next week.

I hope you all have a beautiful, sunny and relaxing weekend!

I love that first picture of "the girls"!! Too cute! And your daughter is a cutie, as well! Aren't our kids, 2-legged or 4-legged, just the best? :)

Having everyone home makes for a wonderful weekend. We are suppose to have heavy rains and that is okay as the land is so dry.

Great that Katie and her dad are going out for lunch, love that.

I hope Jake gets your mirror hung but if he doesn't it will always be there.

Love your pictures, Katie is a sweetie......enjoy your weekend sweetie.......:-) Hugs

Hi Jackie.
Thank you for your kind words. I do love hard work. What I don't like is when my body won't let me do it. I am happiest when I can physically work. I know that this must be so much out of other peoples realm but it just gives me great pleasure.
Love Di ♥

Hi Bernie.
Jakes job has been horrible as of late. We have had hardly any time together. But he and Katie really do need some bonding moments. so I will sacrifice!
I am just grateful that I have him!

So you've had strokes yet you're still cleaning houses! As they say in Australia 'Good on yer!' You seem to lead a very full life but I could hear both you and the dogs snoring from here!

What darling pictures of your dogs. :) Just precious!

Yes, sometimes the most simple jobs give us the most satisfaction. And, it is great that "your people" appreciate what you do for them.

Have a great weekend. I enjoy reading your posts and your images.

Very best,
Lois

Hi Di,
I'm looking forward to a sunny weekend too. I watched the final "Grey's Anatomy" too last night. It had a little of everything, didn't it!

It's great that Katie likes school so much and you are one smart and loving Mom to set up this Dad and Daughter lunch date! Maybe you and the dogs can nap under that maple tree, while they're away! :)

I understand your enjoyment of cleaning for an appreciative family(my people as you say)! I once surprised my DIL with a house cleaning for her, just before a party she had planned for fellow office workers.

Enjoy your time with family!!!
♥...Wanda

Hi Wanda,
That Grey's had me one the edge of my seat! Amy and I were texting back and forth about it! Not usual for us but it was so good.
I hope that you have sunshine this weekend. It's still really cloudy here but I am still hopeful! It is still very wet, one way or another I need to weed! Love Di ♥

Loved your ramblings....Happy with/for you that you are able to clean for your friends and enjoy it, too! I know this must be a huge blessing for them, too. If you were closer, I'd exchange Gary hanging your mirror for 1/2 off a good house cleaning (smile)!

Great idea to send Katey and Jake off for lunch. Does K have summer plans?

You have a good weekend. We have several graduation parties to go to this afternoon and tomorrow I'm traveling to Chicago to spend a couple of days with a daughter. Her hubby went to Africa for 10 days.

Hi Di,
Seems like you might need a bit of excitement in your life! We should go ride a roller coaster, while Katie and her Dad are out having their father / daughter get together.

Or maybe we could just relax under your maple tree and have a good chat...I hope you are doing ok, and that you get that mirror hung. I have heard you mention it several times, so I know it is something you have your heart set upon.

Keep on dreaming...I am so glad your knees are not hurting as much. ((((HUGS and FRIENDSHIP ALWAYS))) TT

I am having a relaxing weekend but with out the sun. Your pups are so cute and look like thay are use to having their picture taken. It is nice for your daughter to spend alone time with her daddy. We try to give the kids some one on one when we can. I look forward to seeing your mirror hung.I am still working on my tiny art spot.:/ I understand your feelings completely about cleaning as I use to clean houses before my health would not let me. It was very emotionally rewarding. If you find a new yummy dessert let us know! Enjoy your family time. Hugs from Dee

Diana, first things first. I don't consider your job menial at all. I deeply respect what you do. Not everyone has that much stamina to do what you do. I have tried to clean my own house. I did that for half the day, and slept the other half! Strangely, the most hardworking jobs get you to smallest amounts of money. Sitting in an AC and developing code involves mental work, but doing what you do compensates for it physically. Very unfair I'd say.

I am so glad Jake will be home in the weekend. DO post pictures of the stuff u cook. Makes my mouth water. Loads of love

House cleaning, that is doing a good job at it is a gift. My wife and I don't like to clean house too much, but my wife pays her sister to clean for us and she seems to enjoy it. So my sister-in-law makes some extra money and we have somebody who does the difficult cleaning jobs and it's great.

I always find Inspiration when I visit here. You know it takes me a bit to get the Dirt Devil, or the Mop out, but when I am done, I have a Satisfying Feeling come over me as well. {The cats also scatter when the Monster with the Bright Eye appears}. Hope you had a Wonderful Weekend and Katie and Jake had a Special Day as well. Your Special Supper sounded delicious. Your Dogs are quite wonderful.

A Wonderful Week is wished for you and your family
