" The Week That Kinda Sorta, Well... Sucked !"

Last week was pretty nice. I took the week off of my part time jobs. I enjoyed not having to leave the house much. Just do things around here that I wanted to do. Yes, last week was pretty nice.

This week however started out with bad news.
Katie was going somewhere with the car on Sunday. I don't remember where right now and it doesn't really matter.

Jake just so happened to be standing in the driveway, facing the car, when he noticed something on the tire. He stopped Katie and upon closer examination, noticed that the steel belts were popping through both front tires all the way around the tires.

These tires were only fourteen months old. I don't even put 10,000 miles a year on my car.

Of course being that it was a Sunday, I couldn't do anything about it until Monday after Jake would be gone to work.

When I did take the car in I had to buy two new tires even though the tires were still under warranty. And that is because way back last winter when Katie had a flat tire after accidentally driving in a ditch, the tie-rod got bent when she backed out of the ditch.

So the part was ordered and I returned on Wednesday to have it replaced and the car aligned. The good news is the car rides like new once again. Bad news, it costs about $500.00 in repair work.

I don't blame Katie, Hell I may have tried backing out of the ditch myself. I actually did this once with our pick-up. But that's another story for another day.

Yesterday Katie had a routine doctor's visit with her ENT. Katie has to have her ears cleaned out every six months or so as she has eczema in her ears.

She also has had surgery in the past for nasal cysts and polyps.

She's been stuffy for a month. She's a bit paranoid about this. I can't blame her. She takes allergy medications regularly.

The news wasn't good. We both were fearing the worst. The ENT found another polyp. Oh my poor Katie. Her mood changed instantly. So did mine.

The surgery is scheduled for June 25th. The good news is that we caught it early and this surgery will be much less invasive than the last one. No packing! That made her a bit more relieved.

She had a horrible migraine for a week after the last surgery. The doctor assured us that should not be the case this time.

When we came home, all Kate wanted to do was take a nap. But not before telling me that the day after the surgery she wants Biscuits and Gravy, Ice Cream and mom's homemade Chicken with homemade noodles.

I'll be doing some cooking that day. I am grateful that I don't know how to make homemade Ice Cream. Please do not send me recipes or directions!!

So I guess that's life. You get a good week and you get a bad week. We'll muddle through.

Keep the Faith and keep on goin'.

I hope you all had a GOOD week!!

You take the good, you take the bad,
you take them both and there you have
The Facts of Life, the Facts of Life.

Those (are they morning glories?) flowers in the first picture are sweet. Glad you took a few days off.

It's dry here. We water like crazy but still might end up losing some stuff. How about you?

Hang IN there, Katie. Hoping this procedure is successful and as minimally painful as possible.

Those kinds of weeks are no fun. Will be praying for katie. Sending you lots of hugs dear friend! Knees are stiff from all the rain we're having but I'm not slowing down! Canning tomatoes this morning!

Oh, poor Katie! Oh, poor YOU!

I love how you kept posting those pretty flowers in between all the bad news (thanks for that, they are beautiful! You must have a green thumb!). A little reminder to us all that there are little Blessings thrown at us here and there between the bad that is thrown at us too!

It was good to hear about your nice week, but so sorry for the troubles you are having now.
SO HAPPY that you don't cave in!
You're a good soul, Di.
PS ~ LOVED the 'don't send me any recipes'!!!

That does kind of suck. Chances are next week won't be worse than last week.

Awww, so sad for Katie. :( That wouldn't be any fun for anyone. I hope she comes through it as easily as possible. Bummer for sure!

Yep, that tire thing was no fun either. I hope your next week is much better.

On the bright side, those morning glories on the fence are beautiful!

Huge hugs for you and Katie,

Dear Di, I'll be coming to stay to cheer Katie up after her surgery. Please make extra of everything. I actually do have an easy recipe for homemade peppermint ice cream, but I would have to bring all my Grandkids along to unwrap the peppermint candies. Take Care! Hope Jake has a nice Father's Day!

Unforeseen expenses are bad but seeing your kid ill is much worse ; my best wishes for the surgery !xx

Oh Di! That is the pits - poor Katie.

FYI - we are not allowed to plant Morning Glories in Arizona - they are considered 'noxious weeds'. Similar to Kudzu, I suppose.

But I really have the 'bestest' homemade ice cream recipe! No eggs, to it's a tad bit better for us.

Hugz to you and yours!

As my Dad used to day "it just shows to go 'ya". I've literally trained myself to live one day at a time because so many things can happen in a whole week. It's easier in smaller increments for me. Hang in there, Di, and thanks for sharing.

Oh well that sucks.

My Gramma had polyps in her nose and they grew right out of the nostril before she'd go to the doctor and he would pull it out and she'd go home.
They grow right down the throat so if you don't get everything they grow back up. She too had allergies and took aspirin and the doctor told her it was from the aspirin.
Go figure.

I love that story and those sweet solemn photos of her. Also love that she wanted you to write about this and to be in your blog - bless - my kids are always complaining about having their photo taken. its hard and as you say in the end its about muddling through as best you can...
