A Good Evening to All

This photo was taken last summer. The Easter Lilly's in my yard along with the weeds of coarse!

Not much has been going on in my world lately, however I felt the need to let everyone know what a gorgeous day we had today here in Southern Illinois. It was a beautiful, sunny 53 degree day.
It was refreshing to see people walking around with no jackets on!

As I was walking one of my dogs today I noticed that my Maple tree has buds on it as well as the Forsythia and Lilac bushes. Also I noticed that the daffodils are poking through. So what did my husband and I do to celebrate the beautiful day? Nothing. We pretty much did nothing.

We had plans to work on the house but they didn't manage to come to fruition. It's all good though as we both really needed a day to sit and do nothing. Even our Katie decided to grace us with her presence all day. Oh by the way, Katie has lost her voice. It made me think of my mother, not only because she used to lose her voice once or twice a year, but also because today she would have been 73 years young.

I thought that I would feel so sad today because of it, but for some reason I have been very happy all day. I think part of the reason for that was that I got away from the house for a few hours yesterday. My husband had to get his fingerprints taken so that he could renew his Hazardous Materials Endorsement.

In order to do this we had to drive about sixty-five miles out of town to the place where they do the fingerprinting. It was a beautiful sunny day and I totally enjoyed the time alone with my husband as we drove there. We talked all the way there and stopped and had lunch after the fingerprinting. It was fun for me, and I think Jake enjoyed it too even though it involved more driving for him. I offered to drive but it's a control thing for him. I don't mind as I like to watch the scenery anyway.

I was a little frustrated with myself however for forgetting to bring my camera, again. Where is Jackie when I need her? My husband tried to calm my frustration by telling me that there was nothing to see between here and there. He was wrong. There was this huge cross on the highway that I would have loved to show you. And then there was a coyote that ran across the road.
I know I sound like a little kid. But the truth is that I am easy to please.

Unfortunately my husband has to leave early tomorrow morning. It's never enough time. If you are wondering what the heck I am doing writing this when I could be sitting contentedly at his feet (yes I have done that) it's because he also loves to play video games and rarely gets the chance. He always asks me if it's o.k. Isn't that sweet? So I thought that I would visit with all of my blogger friends while he is playing.

My son and my granddaughter are at the Girl Scouts father/daughter dance tonight. It seems like just yesterday when Jake and Katie went to the very same dance. My how fast they change and grow. I am hoping for a photo from the dance but I will have to wait and see.

My older daughter Ginny will be on a flight tomorrow for Palm Springs, California. It's a business trip for her but I am sure she will find a little time to enjoy herself at the Hyatt there.
One of the perks of her job is travel. I am so happy that she is able to do these things. I was always so shy when I was younger and couldn't have dreamed of doing presentations in front of so many people. I think she is awesome and inspiring.

Well that's it for tonight. Like I said nothing too exciting, just life! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Well, you may have had a gorgeous day Di, but we are still deep in snow here. It may get up to 45 tomorrow though.
Glad you aren't feeling down, it being your mom's birthday. My granddaughter's is Monday. It's nice that Jake was there with you, maybe that helped. I got out too for the first time in over a week. Had lunch with friends from my school days.
I'm glad you posted tonight Di, enjoy your Sunday! Should I say...I hope Katie gets her voice back soon? I saw your Face Book note on your sidebar! :)

Di...You can't imagine how happy it makes me to know that you had such a wonnnnderful day! I love the fact that you and Jake were traveling together and talking and enjoying each other's company...and that your day was a beautiful one.
I was with you, Di! Didn't you feel it? I told you, I'm always there. You should have given me a gentle nudge and I would have clicked the photos that you looks to me as though you didn't need any. Your words were more than ample to describe your beautiful day! I'm so glad I was here tonight. I needed to read this. Hugs and love from Jackie

Hi Wanda,
Katie actually sounds cute! She gets mad at me when I tell her that!
I really did expect to feel sad today, maybe mom was watching over me.
There was a calmness to the day.
Is it Alivia's birthday on Monday?
She is so sweet.

Hi Jackie,
Yes I did feel you there yesterday because I kept thing that you would be saying "Why didn't you take your camera!", seriously! I used to keep it in my purse, I guess I should do that again.

Hi Diana~
My Rachael returns home and your Ginny is off to sunny skies and warm temps!
Looks like your getting warm temps there too! Here, we'll have winter for 6 more weeks, no matter if the groundhog sees his shadow!

I'm glad you got to spend time with your husband. It's great that you could catch up with each other. Chris and I use long drives for that too... no distractions or phone calls...
Have a wonderful Sunday, Diana~
Take care, and God bless ~ Maria

Lovely post. ANd "Happy Birthday" toyour Mom. :-) I love the road tirp with Jake - that you two still talk and go to lunch and enjoy being together. I know and appreciate the value in that! And DI? The forsythia? If you cut a nice big bunch and put the clippings in warm water - in a few days they will bloom the brightest yellow and brighten your day. I/we do it every February and I remember my mom doing it when I wasa little girl. It is a time honored traditiopn. :-) Enjoy.

Hi Di,
So glad to hear that your weather has turned warm again, and that Spring is on it's way. Winter seems to have flown by for me, since I have been in this 'whirlwind' of activity. The activity consisting of 'work', 'work' and more 'work'.

A relaxing day such as you had with Katie and your hubby sounds wonderful, and your words about the scenery you saw while driving, painted a wonderful picture.

It seems you have found some peace amidst all the struggles and trials you have been through lately, and you are finding a much needed rest. I can only think, you have entered into 'God's rest', a wonderful and peaceful place to be.

((((HUGS)))) TT

Hi Maria,
It has been very mild lately. Most of the snow is gone. We don't get a lot of cold and snow come March if any.
Isn't it great that our girls were able to go someplace warm!

Hi Anu,
Glad you stopped by! Katie's voice is a bit better today. She's been drinking lots of ginger green tea!

Hi Bernie,
We did have snow and cold last weekend but the weather here is generally mild so it doesn't last very long. Most of the snow is gone except for whats been plowed. Usually when March hits, our winters are about gone. It is one of the things I don't miss about living further north!

Hi Teresa,
I hope you are right. I have felt more peaceful as of late but there are still those moments. I figured you must be working a lot because you haven't posted much. I don't blame you though, you're probably exhausted by the end of your day! I hope all of your hard work is paying off.

Sounds like a nice, relaxing day. I hope your warm day didn't bring out the budding of trees and flowers too soon. That often happens here and then we get a frost!

Boy I feel a little selfish! I took the day off on Saturday and drove a 2 hour drive to Las Vegas to do a little shopping with my BFF. I was able to talk her into spending a lot of money hehehehe and I got away with 2 t-shirts from the Gap and a pair of $17 pants at Penny's! LOL I love spending other peoples money! Totally wore me out I was gone from 10 until 11 that night! Sunday...I was a bummmmm....a total bummmmm.

Hi Diana!
It was a really lovely weekend here too. Yesterday reached 59 degrees here :) I even had crocuses blooming in the yard :)
Then today came..high of 38 degrees..cloudy and yucky :( I am SO ready for spring. I think some of the trees and bushes around here have buds on them too. It's been so wet and muddy that I haven't been able to get out and look around much. I do hope Katie is feeling better and that you are doing well too.
Hugs from me to you :)

Peace and contentment just seem to ooze out of your words here! "God's in His Heaven and all's right with the world...." (Well, not quite ALL).

My spirit seems to rise with the temperature. 56 degrees sounds wonderful.

I smile for you and your time spent with Jake. Then to see your children active and's ALL good, isn't it.

Hope this new week is starting off on the right foot, too. God bless your life and family, Di. You are a special woman.
