" The Autumn Of Her Life " by Diana

The wind was cold and dry as it brushed against her cheeks .
And even though she quickly felt the shiver of the wind flow over and around her skin,
It felt wonderful . It felt refreshing .
It made her feel alive .

The moon hung low in the sky,

glowing in beautiful warm shades of amber.

It was the harvest moon .
To her , it was the most splendid moon of the year .

She closed her eyes beneath the moonbeams
and she could hear the yellow, orange a
nd red leaves
rustling past her silhouette.

One or two of the dried leaves touched her skin as she took
a very deep breath .

She imagined what the warm flames of the wood fire looked like
that someone unknown to her had lit in their fireplace.

That inviting scent mixed with the smoky scent of burning leaves
lingering in the air , filled her lungs and brought a smile to her face.

And while all of this was a special treat to her senses, she was getting colder now and realized that she would soon have to go back inside.

These magical days of this season were fleeting now
as were the magical years of her life .

The days grew shorter as did the yea
rs.

Yes she was getting colder now as well as older.
It was time to come in out of the chill to warm her body .

But her mind would always remain warm filled with the thoughts
and feelings of this beautiful season
and this beautiful life.

What a beautiful post and beautiful pictures. You could write nature books and use your pics and your prose. I loved this. Donna

Your beautiful post reminds me, "Never judge a book by its cover."

And that is something that I tend to do, too. When I go to the library, the style of print or design of the cover attracts me. I've made many choices that way.

YOUR "book" has a new "cover". And I enjoyed the style! Do it again soon.

Did you write this up in your apartment per all the advise of previous day???

I'm smiling because it is so beautiful Diana, but at the same time there's a sadness that the words evoke...a very moving piece Diana! It made me take a deep breath!

Hi Rebecca,
Actually the thought of this entered my mind as I was walking my pug,Ruby.
She likes to take her time! Then I came inside and picked it up from there.
And remember that man (and woman) was created in Gods image. And we know that he certainly wasn't one sided!
This woman just rarely has time to change her own cover! Thank you Rebecca for recognizing that I am more than just Mom and wife!

Hi Wanda,
It was meant to be a little sad. When we realize that we have lived more years than we have left to live, it is a little sad. But also beautiful when we learn how to stop living in the past, enjoy the present and look forward to the winter. I am glad that you liked it, thank you.

Hi Diana!
I love this post, so beautifully & thoughtfully composed ...
the change of seasons is always so moving for me too...
As winter approaches, I think of the trees just outside my windows...
They so 'bravely' face the winter winds, ice and snow...
Deep in their branches is the life that brings spring...

Thank you for sharing these thoughts ~ inspiring our own ~
~a happy weekend to you, Diana~

Hi Diana...I scrolled a long way to get here...but it was worth the scroll. Your words are beautiful.
As I read them, I felt a sadness come over me, though...and I hope that you don't think that you ever have to 'go inside' ... I hope that you will always be able to feel those same feelings...no matter what time of your life it is. You have so much to offer...you lift me up every day, my friend...you do. You have a gift for words...and this writing shows that...as do all the writings on your blog. This one is different...another part of Di...and I love each part....the working Mom...loving wife...and the woman who enjoys the pleasures of life not matter what obstacles are thrown in her way. You are an amazing lady, Di...and I hope that all your seasons can and will be ones that make you happy. Keep your chin up...and that smile going, my friend. I hug you...and am thinking of you with love.

Hi Jackie,
I am happy that you were able to enjoy the chill for a bit. It is very invigorating!
I do get down occasionally Jackie, but for the most part I have always been an optimistic person. My husband on the other hand is the opposite, which can drive me crazy at times but he makes up for it with his sense of humor.
I always TRY to look up and forward. It is the best direction to go, don't ya think?
Love Ya Girlfriend, Di

Hi Jerelene,
Katie is so much better now. You came back to her normal teenage self last night and has bee fine ever since. It was strep that she had and me too. And at the moment I am feeling better too. I am hoping that tomorrow will be even better.
I am very happy that you liked my little poem. And I do hope that you start feeling better soon. I copy and pasted your post and sent it to Bernie. She was concerned about you and hopes that things start to turn around for you soon. Take care of yourself Jerelene, Sam needs a healthy mom.
Love You, Di

Hi Di, A little late visiting you - I hope you and the Family are all on the mend. What a lovely, calming post! I do hope you are resting - illness tells us we need to take a break!

Hi Diana~ An amazing post! Just your beautiful photos alone evoke feelings first of golden autumn joy and then of regret as we go into monochromatic winter. And then to read your prose that matched the photos and gave hope and light was so warmhearted. (And how did you get the roaring fire in the fireplace at the same level as the falling leaf?) Thank you for the gentle beauty.

Diana said...

Hi Janine,
I did notice the similarity in our posts! It seems that autumn brings about many different emotions for all of us in blogland! That you for your kind words Janine. They are always special coming from you!

Hi Margaret,

Hey, Di, just dropping by to say 'hi'! Thanks for visiting and commenting, but I'm missing your posting!
Although this one is worth reading again! I really did love it so much. And the beautiful pictures that go with it.

I'm busy this week trying to set up posts for the next few weeks because I think I'll be too busy to upload pictures (it's so time-consuming!), I'm quitting now. Ray and I want to try and clean out the basement this weekend and make a play room for Jayden and FINALLY move all these toys downstairs to give us a little breathing room! I'm not having Thanksgiving but we'll be doing Christmas so it will be nice to have some room to put people! Spring and Summer are so much easier for entertaining with the sun porch and the deck outside! Oh well, we all have fun anyway, whether we're spread out or on top of each other. It's just a little easier to entertain and work if you have a little elbow room.

'Hope all is well.
'Think of you often.
Love to you,
Eileen
